Viator moved our time...

Viator moved our time which messed up our schedule by an hour. The audio portion was booked in Italian which was the default language if no option was given. We were not given any option to choose English and assumed it was English because it did not state otherwise. Therefore when we arrived to get the audio tour, we could not do it and had to explore on our own. We will not book this tour again.

Viator & Dolcevita Discoveries are a SCAM

Monday 25th May 2026 - Viator & Dolcevita Discoveries are a SCAM. We were physically in line at the entrance to the Vatican Museum only to find our Apple wallet tickets were not valid and that we should have a link in the email from Viator from the previous days. No link in the official email. A Viator representative who we approached at the entrance asked to see our booking number and quickly said we could pay him €90 each for 2 tickets (way over our original ticket price). An email also conveniently came from Viator at the same time cancelling our original tickets and a refund would be given, Paypal also sent en email confirming the refund. We called Viator in Sydney Australia who said their supplier Dolcevita Discoveries has cancelled our ticket's. Again, we were in line at the entrance to go in so incredibly disappointing. Viator could not explain why they had cancelled and said someone would call us back to explain, they have not at the time of writing this on the 31st May 2026. Disgusting behaviour from a big ticketing company who we thought could be trusted. Id love to add some photos but we never went inside to take any... Do not use either company ever.

Booking cancelled

I arrive to the site where an operator was waiting only to be told all bookings via Viator for that day had been cancelled and i would receive a refund. I have heard absolutely nothing I may have to take it further

Viator is an amazing app to book all your tours with. Very easy to book and an very quick and smooth process when you arrive at your meeting spot for your tour. Remember to bring your ID with you as they suggest. Definitely will book another tour with Viator.

Poor service, misleading booking and extremely rude customer response

I would strongly advise others to avoid booking Vatican Museum tickets through this provider. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The listing states that tickets will be delivered within 24 hours of the booked excursion time, meaning up to 24 hours before your visit. This suggests that tickets may not actually be secured at the time of purchase, which is highly misleading when you are selecting and paying for a specific entry time. In reality, it became clear that the tickets were not booked when I made the reservation. I had to chase repeatedly via email, phone, and even through Booking.com customer service just to receive them. When they finally arrived, they were for the wrong time, with no prior communication or option to accept or decline the change. It honestly felt like the tickets were only sourced after I began chasing, resulting in a later 13:30 entry time being issued simply based on what was available at that point, rather than what I had originally booked. There is nothing clearly stated in the listing to indicate that entry times can be changed without customer approval. This is particularly important when planning a trip, and in my case the later time meant I missed the opportunity to visit St Peter’s Basilica as I had an early flight the next day. To make matters worse, I was told on the phone that there would be a representative at the Vatican Museums entrance if my tickets hadn’t arrived. There was no representative anywhere to be found. The most shocking part of this experience, however, was the response from the company when I raised a complaint. Rather than apologising or taking responsibility, I received a rude and dismissive message telling me to “read the description carefully”, stating “this is not an NGO”, and implying I should have bought tickets elsewhere. This tone was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. They offered a €10 “goodwill” refund, despite charging a €61 service fee on top of €50 tickets. Even after this gesture, I still paid a significant amount for a service that was not delivered properly. After reading other reviews on TripAdvisor, it’s clear this is not an isolated issue. There are multiple similar complaints about delayed ticket delivery, changed entry times, and poor communication. I wish I had taken more notice of these before booking. Overall, a stressful, frustrating experience that fell far below expectations. I would not recommend using this provider.

Solid Vatican tour, worth it

Good guide, clear explanations, and a smooth entry into the Vatican Museums. The Sistine Chapel was the highlight. Crowded, but well managed. Overall, a solid 2.5-hour tour.

Smooth entry and a breathtaking visit to the Vatican

The entrance process to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel was very smooth and well organised, which saved us a lot of time and stress. Everything was clearly communicated, and we were able to enter without long waiting, which made the experience much more enjoyable. Once inside, the atmosphere was absolutely stunning. Walking through the galleries and finally reaching the Sistine Chapel was truly unforgettable. Even though there were visitors, the flow was well managed and we never felt lost or confused about where to go next. Overall, this was a great option for anyone who wants hassle-free access to one of the world’s most famous attractions. Excellent organisation, good value for money, and a must-do experience when visiting Rome.

Dolce discoveries are scammers, AVOID

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. My husband and I paid £120 to entry to the Vatican and the Sistine chapel. The booking email said “24 hours before your trip you will get your tickets” so when they didn’t arrive I got in touch with Dolce. They told me they would send me the tickets the morning of the trip. We arrived at the meeting point with plenty of time to spare and were told again via message if the tickets did not arrive a rep would be there. Of course there was no rep. I asked someone if they could help me he said “every day with this company there are problems, get your money back they don’t have the tickets”. I tried to call Dolce 3 times and got no answer. I finally got through to Viator who I booked the tickets with and they called them and apparently Dolce said because I had asked for the tickets in advance they were not providing them to me?! So they tell you they have tickets. They take your money but they don’t have any tickets and no one is avalible to help you. Avoid at all costs total scammers and apparently we’ll known for it.
