Caught so many fish using different techniques, even though I’m a total beginner thanks to our kind, knowledgeable guide and boat captain! And then they tasted amazing for lunch. We even got to enjoy some snorkelling time at a pristine, deserted area while lunch was being prepared. Best way to enjoy the sea and islands away from the crowds.
Outstanding and original experience. James is extremely friendly and attentive. Safe at all times.
Review for James: El Nido Adventure’s Fishing Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can't say enough good things about our fishing trip with James at El Nido Adventure in Palawan! It was truly a day to remember. From the start, we felt welcomed and excited to dive into the world of local fishermen. James was fantastic—he shared stories about the fishing lifestyle and taught us everything we needed to know. We caught 4 mahi mahi, 1 tuna, a red snapper, and a blue trevally, also called talakitok by the locals. It was thrilling to reel in our catch, and James made it such a fun experience for me and my husband. In a wonderful twist, James and his buddy took us to a random secluded beach where they set up a fire and grilled our freshly caught fish. The lunch they prepared was simply amazing! Fresh fish cooked to perfection, served with delicious sides, and enjoyed right by the ocean—it was a truly magical moment. This experience gave us a genuine look into the lives of the fishermen. It was not just about fishing; it was about connection, culture, and spending a beautiful afternoon together. If you’re looking for a warm and heartfelt adventure in Palawan, I wholeheartedly recommend spending a day with James. You won’t regret it!
Had the best day ever with our guides. Absolute expert skippers, fisherman and chefs. Catch and cook on a stunning private beach was the perfect was to celebrate our friends 26th birthday. Very grateful for their time and hospitality :) awesome experience I’ll never forget catching mahi mahi and bisugo.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really happy to hear you had such a great time with our team. It means a lot to us that you enjoyed the experience—from the fishing to the catch and cook on the beach. Sounds like a perfect way to celebrate your friend’s birthday 😊 Catching mahi mahi and bisugo is definitely something to remember! We’ll be sure to share your feedback with our guides—they’ll be very glad to hear it. Hope to see you again on your next adventure!
I had a free day in El Nido and didnt want to do the package tours with a bunch of other people, I enjoy going fishing so booked this. So happy i did, I was traveling solo, they arranged a pickup from my hotel in el nido, we rode to the sleepy little fishing village. and got to see what real fillepeno life is about, Nothing touristy here. A little dirt path to a mangrove river. Huts dots the shoreline with locals fixing their nets. I met James my guide and we set off down the river and to the ocean to hand line some fish. We caught a literal bucket load of orange snappers with handlines. Super fun! He also was set to cook them for me, James and his buddy stopped at a random secluded beach, made a fire, cooked a amazing lunch and we enjoyed the afternoon. One of my most fun and authentic experiences in all of the Philippines. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an off the beaten path / very local type of adventure. ** Tip, if you want a few beers to have during lunch after you go fishing get James to walk up to the store (right beside the path to the river) and grab some before you go
Fantastic day out doing Tour A with this team. As I was traveling solo I paddled the full length of the Big Lagoon so I was so grateful one of the guides helped out paddling me back to the boat when we finished in the lagoon. Great team and fun day out.
I’ll be honest: communication was a bit shaky at first because I had a US number, and it took a few tries through my hotel front desk and WhatsApp to get everything synced up. We had to reschedule twice—once due to weather and once because I got sick—and I was worried about the lack of response the night before the trip. However, once the tour started, everything was absolutely perfect. The fishing in Palawan was fantastic, and the lunch with local fishermen was some of the best food I’ve had. My guides, James and Janill, were incredible. They were professional, helpful, and very kind. The highlight of their service came when I crashed my drone into a tree about 100 feet up a steep mountain on an island. I thought it was gone forever, but James and Janill insisted on climbing up to find it. They used the 'Find My Drone' feature on my phone, located it, and brought it back safely. They even went the extra mile to drop me off right at the shore at Lio Beach at the end so I could meet my family before our flight. Yes, you might need your hotel's help to call them if you have a US number, but trust the process. These guys are hardworking, genuine, and will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great time. I cannot recommend James and Jonel enough!

Thank you so much for your honest and detailed review. We truly appreciate you sharing both the initial challenges and the highlights of your experience. We sincerely apologize for the communication difficulties at the beginning. International numbers can sometimes create connection issues, but we understand how stressful that can feel—especially the night before a scheduled tour. Thank you for your patience while we worked through the rescheduling due to weather and your illness. Your understanding means a lot to us. We’re thrilled to hear that once the tour began, everything exceeded your expectations. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the fishing experience in Palawan and the lunch with the local fishermen—those authentic moments are exactly what we hope our guests take home with them. James and Janill (and Jonel) will be especially happy to read your kind words. Going the extra mile—whether it’s climbing a steep mountain to rescue a drone or ensuring a timely drop-off so you could meet your family—is exactly the level of care and dedication we strive for. We’re incredibly proud to have them on our team. Thank you again for your trust and recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to Palawan for another adventure in the future!
Mixed feelings. On one hand, the trip itself was good, the boat crew was knowledgeable. On the other hand, there were no life jackets provided. At all. Just no such option available. That made the trip super stressing for my wife, who's not a swimmer and crossing deep water in a very small boat without the life jacket was a disaster for her. Once the tour operator finds a couple of life vests, the tour will be a real five-start experience.
Great experience with James!! Very nice and very friendly A great discovery with locals I highly recommend!
