Nuestro recorrido en jeep por Durango recorre el Cañón de La Plata, un barranco escarpado ubicado en un paraíso alpino. Aquí, en este paisaje esculpido por un glaciar, encontrará cascadas que caen en cascada hacia el cañón, pasillos de álamos temblones relucientes, innumerables flores silvestres, vida silvestre corriendo entre los prados y vistas panorámicas de las Montañas Rocosas más hermosas de Colorado. Como dijimos, ¡el paraíso! Nuestros guías experimentados y amantes de la diversión son lugareños de Durango, quienes conocen la rica historia y ecología de este cañón como nadie más. Mientras que otros proveedores tienden a dejar que el paisaje haga todo el trabajo por ellos, nuestros guías le brindan una gran cantidad de información sobre lo que hace que esta área sea increíblemente especial. Reúnase con nosotros en nuestra oficina de Durango por la mañana o por la tarde para una excursión de 4 horas por la hermosa y escarpada naturaleza del Cañón de La Plata, a solo 20 minutos de la ciudad. El sendero comienza suavemente y lentamente pasa a un camino de grava aproximadamente a la mitad del cañón. ¡Prepárate para rockear y conocer a la persona que tienes a tu lado! A medida que subimos la montaña, nos detendremos para ver algunas cascadas, prados y antiguos restos de la salvaje era minera de Colorado. En el camino hacia arriba, mantén los ojos bien abiertos para ver ciervos, marmotas, zorros, aves rapaces y, si tienes suerte, ¡un alce o un oso! Una vez que hayamos llegado a la cima del cañón, nos tomaremos un tiempo para disfrutar de una vista espectacular de las montañas de San Juan, ¡las Montañas Rocosas más queridas de Colorado! Desde finales de junio hasta principios de agosto, este es el sendero todoterreno perfecto para observar flores silvestres. Desde finales de septiembre hasta principios de octubre, los grandes bosques de álamos crean colores otoñales increíbles.

I would highly recommend this tour with mild to wild tour company. Specifically asked for Jay as he was an amazing tour guide! He was enjoyable, knowledgeable,and was at our service. He stopped whenever we wanted to stop and was more than happy to explain everything that we were seeing, including how all of the rock formations and mountains were formed millions of years ago! We did not want the tour to end! Be sure to ask for Jay!

The jeep tour with Cat was fantastic. Cat shared stories of the La Plata canyon folks while pointing out the various highlights of the tour. She took us to the top of the canyon and we were able to walk on the colorado trail and go to the cliff and see phenomenal views. We had a great day Thank you Cat.

The jeep ride up to the Colorado Mountains from Durango was a fun morning trip. We were blessed with wonderful weather and our driver/guide Paul managed the very bumpy roads very well. That’s not to say that it wasn’t wildly bumpy— be forewarned— it was bumpier than I expected . The scenery was really beautiful and I enjoyed the waterfalls. Paul was a very nice driver and guide but knew less about the flora than I expected— he was more intent on telling us about all the current housing settlements in this off grid area than the geology and flora. I do think $125 per person which we paid was maybe a little expensive but then there is no way I could have traveled up there on my own. The views were stunning.
