We're English heritage members and wanted to visit for some time. This picturesque castle is a wonderful family day out. Beautiful views, plenty of facilities, lots of history and a really interesting play area for the kids. Our kids also enjoyed the summer entertainment dotted around. It's also dog friendly so we brought the dog. It didn't seem to matter that the tunnels were closed because there was still loads to see and do and staff were very friendly and helpful.
I turned up on the day an bought tickets. Also, car parking is free. So a good start!! Lovely, interesting castle, fantastic grounds, and seriously interesting history, covering historic and word war 2. I loved it. I spent a happy 2 hours there. The tunnels were closed, so I imagine it is even better when they are open. And you could easily spend 3/4 hours there, but I didn’t have time to as I had a deadline for something else, also being on my own made it quicker. If you are in the area it is a must visit
Amazing to see something almost a thousand years old. The English Heritage staff was amazing. The views from the top of the castle were unbelievable.
I have been before, however we arrived late this time. A horrible american woman in the ticket office got nasty with us when we said were coming another time. We were told to leave directly, which was so rude. We walked back to our car but walked around the cnr to admire the view. Another rude woman fr the ticket office, followed us and told us to leave immediately or she would call security. We were treated like we just about to steal the crown jewels. Their behaviour to us was a disgrace. My 11 year old was quite upset about it, they are a charity?? But their staff act in a very aggresive manner. We.will never return...
Came to town on cruise ship Got there at opening time approximately 10-10:30, really didn’t have a full day because of ship boarding time Approximately 28 pounds for senior Well worth it, because of lines and times best to start with the tunnels first, the hospital second, then onto the tower and smaller tunnels. If needed there is a shuttle to take you up Castle is in perfect shape, never bombed during the war
Had a brilliant day at the castle, which was almost entirely down to the presence of History Riot. Their commitment to the activities and their interaction with the kids kept us there way longer than we intended and we had the best day we've had at Dover Castle in years.
The outside courtyard games were excellent. It’s brilliant that they put in extras every school holidays, it keeps us coming back.
History Riot were excellent and kept the children well entertained
Very enjoyable actor the grandsons
Excellent day out loads of history to absorb spanning several centuries Food in NAFFI was well priced and good selection
