Tiago was a great guide! We were worried this tour was going to feel too long but it wasn’t. Everything was spaced out nicely and each stop was fantastic. The food and wine everywhere were great! Would definitely recommend doing this day trip if you have the time in Porto!
We stayed in Porto for a week and didn't have a lot planned outside of just enjoying the city and all it had to offer. A friend of ours suggested doing this tour and we are very glad that they did. It was a great day outside of the city and so well put together. We met at 8:00 PM in the city. Our family includes me, my wife, our 18-year old son, and our 15-year old daughter. Two additional couples that we didn't know joined us to make our group eight total. Everyone was American. Our guide was Antonio and he spoke great English. We all piled into a van and headed out of the city and into the valley. Antonio was engaging and gave us great information about Porto and the area around us as we traveled. We stopped at a winery and got a tour of their olive oil production area before doing a wine tasting and enjoying some of their olive oil. We bought a bottle to enjoy on the river cruise that followed. The cruise was awesome and had an app you could download to listen to an audio tour as we went up and down the river. We then headed to lunch in a beautiful winery and enjoyed another tasting after lunch. The staff was amazing and the the woman who led our tasting was funny and very knowledgeable.nnWe made it back to town by around 4:00 PM. I would highly recommend this tour and can't say enough great things about Antonio.
We had a fantastic experience! Very good driver and guide. We had a completely magical day with wine tasting, olive oil tasting and tasted lovely port wine. We also went by boat to the Douro. Beautiful nature. Recommend everyone to take this tour if you like beautiful nature and good wine and food:)
We had a great day in the Douro Valley with Tiago. Tiago was friendly, easy to talk to, and has an impressive knowledge of the region’s history as well of the wineries we visited. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and the A/C was much appreciated. The wineries, lunch, boat ride, and views were all excellent, and the day never felt rushed. If you’re looking for a relaxing and informative way to experience the Douro Valley, we’d definitely recommend this tour with Tiago.
A Dionysian Masterclass in River-Based Portuguese Enlightenment Our Douro Valley river cruise with Nuno V was less a "tour" and more a wine-soaked symposium on the human condition, with occasional almonds. The day began with a joke that immediately separated the group into two categories: people who understood we were in excellent hands, and people who would spend the next six hours slowly realizing the same thing. From there, Nuno conducted the experience like a philosopher-king with a driver's license - equal parts historian, comedian, sommelier, therapist, and deeply unserious cultural ambassador. The wine was exceptional. The olive oil was treated with the reverence of a sacred text. The almonds appeared innocent at first, but like most things in Portugal, became increasingly seductive with context. By mid-afternoon, we were no longer tourists; we were students of terroir, tannins, and whatever legal category "group joy" falls under. Nuno's genius lies in his restraint and a mustache ready for a ride. He never tries too hard. He simply opens the door, lets the Douro Valley be beautiful, pours the wine metaphorically and literally, and then casually says something so funny that you question whether UNESCO has a category for emotional damage. The ride back, set to 90s rap, completed the arc perfectly. Socrates had the agora. Vasco da Gama had the sea route to India, Magellan circumnavigated the globe, Dr. Dre had The Chronic, Wu-Tang had the 36 Chronicles, Nuno had the Douro Valley, a captive audience, and a van full of people rapping like they were still in high school behaving with just enough dignity to remain legally tour-able where Nuno discovered the shortest route from olive oil tasting to 90s rap enlightenment. In conclusion: five stars. Nuno V is a national treasure, the Douro Valley is absurdly beautiful, and | left with a deeper understanding of wine, almonds, olive oil, and the fragile architecture of civilized behavior
Nuno V made this the most fun day!!! A must-do day trip if you’re in Porto. We couldn’t let the fun stop when he dropped us off and our group kept hanging out!
Nuno V was fab, really made the day. Wouldnt have been the same without.
Nuno V was amazing. We had just the best day and he made it great for us all!
This is such a special tour and demonstrates exceptional value for money. Nunao (sp?) was our guide and he showed us placed we would’ve never found on our own. The wines and lunch were excellent, the group was max 8 people for a smaller, more dedicated experience, and the river cruise was easily the highlight (recommend buying a bottle of wine and drinking it during the cruise). Don’t hesitate to book this day trip!
Thiago pulled all the stops. He did not spare any opportunities to give us a memorable experience. Thank you !
