We took the 3 hour Dolphin and shelling tour out of Ft Meyers Beach on Thursday, July 9, with Savannah and driver (sorry, don't remember his name). It was a very nice experience. I am one of those people curious about everything and Savannah was very knowledgeable, and welcomed questions. Our driver answered several questions I asked him as well, and was very good at operating the boat in a way that wasn't just safe, it was very respectful of the wildlife we saw (Dolphins, Manatees and many kinds of birds). He spotted the aquatic life well before any of us! We had grown kids and grand kids with us, and the tour was fun for each of us, irrespective of our age. Savannah gathered the young kids on the floor of the boat to see and touch many kinds of shells, dried egg clusters, etc., and engaged them so effectively that they were quiet and captivated throughout her talk. She was obviously very well versed in the aquatic life, birds, plants, and trends for each in the area, especially with the post hurricane changes. We saw many Dolphins, a few Manatees, all kinds of birds, small fish that almost glowed (needlefish), plants, and many beautiful homes that were worth more than I will make in my lifetime! Our kids had done this tour before, and wanted to repeat it now that their son (4) was old enough to enjoy it too. We would heartily recommend to tour to anyone, at any age! It was well worth the modest fee.
Savannah and Ryan were friendly right from the start! They took time to answer any questions and we happy to answer them! Ryan was just as engaging as Savannah! We saw dolphins and manatees and snake birds. I found lots of shells on the beach and also a molt of a horseshoe crab that Savannah took the time to show us how it molts and where the soft crab exits its hard shell to grow a new hard shell! It was very cool! Highly recommend this trip!
We did the tour yesterday at 9 AM and met at 8:45 at the Dolphin Fountain. We were given a brief orientation. Then we were off. After 10 minutes, 2 dolphins were already following us and playing with the waves created by the boat... simply indescribably beautiful! I truly recommend the tour to everyone. The price-performance ratio is absolutely top-notch; questions were addressed... we went to an island... could swim there and collected shells. Then we returned, again with dolphins at the stern. There is a restroom on the boat, and you can buy ice-cold water for $2. If I am here again, I will book this tour again.
Was so so neat! We saw so many dolphins and were able to record them and we saw manatees too along with many birds. Shelling was really good on the island and the 2 tour guides were more than knowledge. VERY reasonably priced for 3 hours too!
We booked a three hour tour. We immediately saw dolphins, they even chased our boat. The crew took us to an island where we could shell and swim for an hour. I’m plus size and the ladder was easy to use, which made me feel better. Captain Ty and Savannah were friendly and helpful. They even let my 13 year old drive the boat. We saw manatees on the way back too. It was a great experience.
The viewing of manatee and dolphins were spectacular! Also the various birds in the area. Our crew was very knowledgeable answering all kinds of questions loved the shelling too!. Would definitely recommend this cruise.!
Go prepared to enjoy the experience. Wear beach shoes, sunscreen and bring a shelling bag. Live in the moment.
Knowledgeable and friendly crew. Plenty of room and comfortable travel. Offered free bottled water and soda for a good price. Saw several dolphins in the estuary and had about an hour to go shelling on the island. Great time
We did this cruise as a group of 3 adults on Monday 29 June from 9 - 12. It was beautiful and the water was perfect - clear and calm. We got great pictures of dolphins and manatees as well as a number of birds. The mangroves islands were full of nesting pelicans. We stopped an hour on Big Hickory Island and did some shelling, wading and swimming. It was perfect. Captain Ty and Ashley were perfect hosts. Ashley had an expert level of knowledge about all the flora and fauna including shell identification! We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back to do this again.
We did see a few dolphins and manatees. The shells were great, but we wanted more of a variety. We had fun.
