A Great Way to Spend Our Day in Thessaloniki

We only had one day in Thessaloniki during our cruise, so we wanted to make the most of our time and see some of the history and scenery of the area. That led us to choosing this tour. When booking, I selected the driver-only option, but there is also an option to add a local guide if you want more detailed history and information at each stop. We had a seamless pickup that morning. Our driver, Antonis, met us right outside the port gate, and from there we headed straight to Dion Archaeological Park. It was about a 50-minute drive from Thessaloniki, and the scenery along the way was beautiful. Aside from the amazing views of Mount Olympus, the restored mosaic tile work was probably my family’s favorite part of the archaeological park. There was also an option to visit a second museum, but we decided to skip it and head to our next destination, Enipeas Waterfall. The waterfall was another one of our favorite stops of the day. It definitely seemed to be a local summer swimming spot, but even if you’re not swimming, the surrounding scenery and views of Mount Olympus are beautiful. From there, we headed to the Monastery of Agios Dionysus, a beautiful Greek Orthodox monastery located on the slopes of Mount Olympus. They have a small shop where you can purchase locally made goods and snacks. We also visited the free museum inside the monastery and had the opportunity to taste fresh mountain spring water from a fountain within the monastery, which was a really nice experience. We decided to do a quick drive through Litochoro rather than stop and walk around, which gave us a little more time to head back toward Thessaloniki. Antonis was very accommodating and even took us around the city so we could see some local sights before returning to the port. A huge thank you to our incredibly kind driver, Antonis, for making the day so enjoyable. He was very accommodating and made the entire day easy and stress-free. And if you happen to get Antonis as your driver, be sure to ask him to share some of his music with you! He is a very talented musician and singer. Overall, we really enjoyed the variety of the day—from the archaeological ruins and Mount Olympus to the waterfall and monastery. It was a great way to see more of the area when we only had one day in Thessaloniki.

Great guide but the tour was not great value for money

Vasilis was an excellent Tour guide - informative, friendly and helpful. Despite Vasilis I thought the tour needed more for the money spent

Our tour guide, Bill, was...

Our tour guide, Bill, was exceptional. If it was not for Bill, the tour would have been just okay. He was very accommodating and always open-minded. He was above and beyond from start to finish. As for the tour itself, this is something I want to tell the tour owner that I was a little disappointed with the lineup of the tour stops. It was not much to see and who in the world would want to go see museums after museums? The ancient city of Dion was okay, but I would definitely skip it and maybe keep just one museum stop. I would also suggest starting from the Holy Monastery, adding Olympus lagoons and Litochoro tour, keep the Enipeas Waterfall stop. Thanks to Bill to still make this tour fun for us. Again, if it was not for him, I would not rate this experience 5 stars.

Looking Forward to This Tour, but It Was Canceled

We were very excited to take this tour, but unfortunately it was canceled by the tour operator less than 48 hours before the scheduled departure. The initial reason provided was “low availability,” though we later learned that the driver had been involved in a car accident and no replacement was available. While we understand that unexpected situations can arise, the last-minute cancellation was disappointing, especially since tour options in Thessaloniki were limited and it left us without time to make alternative plans. We were looking forward to this experience and were sorry to miss it.

Respuesta del operador

Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry about the accident that happened and your tour had to be canceled at the last minute. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you in the future.
