La excursión comienza en Piazzale Verdi en el antiguo Porta San Donato, donde se encuentra el centro de información turística, junto a las históricas murallas renacentistas.
Desde Piazzale Verdi, camine a lo largo de Via San Paolino que corresponde a la antigua calle romana (Decumanus Maximus), pasando por la iglesia renacentista dedicada al santo patrono de la ciudad, San (Santo) Paolino. Al final de la calle contemple la plaza de San Miguel, la zona donde solía estar el antiguo foro romano. Tiempo para parar y fotografiar la espectacular fachada de la iglesia del siglo XII del mismo nombre. A lo largo del camino encuentre influencias de la celebridad más famosa de Lucca, Giacomo Puccini, y vea el exterior del edificio donde nació. Aún hoy en día sus óperas continúan fascinando a públicos de todo el mundo.
Dé un paseo hasta llegar a Via Fillungo, la calle comercial más importante y concurrida de la ciudad donde residen tiendas tradicionales y casas torre medievales. Los dos mayores torres cívicas también estarán incluidas: Torre delle Ore (la torre con reloj) y la muy peculiar Torre Guinigi, coronada con siete encinas.Más sorpresas le aguardan, tales como el impresionante mosaico estilo bizantino en la fachada de una de las iglesias más queridas de Lucca: San Frediano.
A tan solo unos pasos de la iglesia está la Piazza Anfiteatro, una de las plazas más bellas de Lucca. La forma elíptica de la característica plaza se debe a la construcción posterior de edificios sobre los cimientos del antiguo anfiteatro romano.
Camine a lo largo de más calles medievales y llegue a la Catedral de San Martino con su peculiar y llamativa fachada románica de Pisa y Lucca. Aquí termina la excursión.Sin embargo, el guía estará encantado de continuar la excursión al interior de la catedral si no está demasiado cansado. Hay una tarifa de entrada de 3,00 EUR. En el interior esperan su visita: el Volto Santo (la Santa Faz), un evocador crucifijo de madera muy venerado desde hace siglos como el símbolo de Lucca; una increíble Última Cena de Tintoretto; y el hermoso sarcófago de Ilaria del Carretto en la sacristía, una obra maestra de comienzos del siglo XV esculpida por Jacopo della Quercia de Siena.

Beautiful experience and Nadia our guide was super nice and made everything more fun with anecdotes and was available for various clarifications, also available to stay with us inside the Duomo
We really enjoyed our walking tour of Lucca with Nadia. She was incredibly knowledgeable and insightful, and her stories and explanations gave us a much better understanding of the city and its history. What we particularly appreciated was that Nadia added a little something extra to the tour. She took us to what, in her opinion, is the best place for gelato and granita in Lucca. It wasn't part of the standard itinerary, but it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation – the kids were absolutely delighted! That personal touch made the tour feel less like a standard sightseeing experience and more like being shown around the city by someone who genuinely knows and loves Lucca. Thank you, Nadia, for a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!
The joining point is inside at the information centre, I was not aware of this. Very informative but also Italian people on the tour and so a lot of time spent waiting for the guide to give the Italian version too. Was late finishing by at least half an hour and we missed the end in order to catch a train.
Lucca is a very beautiful city. I rented an apartment in the historic area, within the walls. I decided to base myself there to travel to other places in Tuscany. Everything by train. Lucca exudes history in every street you walk down. Its people are friendly; its food and coffee are tasty; its architecture shows the different stages and styles as time has passed. I loved it and would go back again.
This was a great tour of Lucca. Our guide was lovely, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the history of Lucca. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to walk around Lucca and learn the background of this fabulous city.
The tour had about 25 English speaking customers and 2 Italian so the guide spent half the time speaking Italian and completely lost the interest of the group

This is the perfect way to get a taste of the history and stories of Lucca. Our guide was full of knowledge and stories. She even stayed with us after the 2 hours and continued to show us around. She was a joy to be with!
A beautiful afternoon in the company of the guide Antonella, who was excellent with her explanations, making the tour enjoyable and interesting while engaging our kids.
