We learned about the history of Romania and Bucharest in a fun way while walking through the streets Bucharest. The presentation was informative and interesting. and fun!! Our guide tailored our experience to our interests! The meal at the end of the tour was fabulous, cozy, and very comfortable. The food was excellent.
Andrea our guide was full of information. She answered ALL our questions and gave us freedom to switch to other traditional plates when she saw that we had already tried the ones the tour had. It was a great City tour and ended with great variety of traditional soups, meats and dessert at an off the path local restaurant not touristy.
This private one on one Discover Bucharest Highlights and Food Tour was excellent. Made especially wonderful by our tour guide Elana (pronounced Ejuana). As a native Bucharest resident and highly educated double master student in history, she was extremely knowledgeable in this field and carried out this tour to perfection. The finishing touch was an excellent Romanian 3 course meal. I highly recommend this tour and hope you get Elana as your guide.
We had a lovely chilly but sunny day walking around Bucharest. Elena was friendly and very knowledgeable, she was very patient and helpful throughout the day, lunch was also very good and plentiful, especially recommend the papanas dessert.
Mara is very kind and interacts with us like a friend and does not make someone feel distant. And because she has been to many countries, she is quite inclusive of historical and political issues. She prepared a wealth of photos as a reference to make the context of the navigation clear, as if in the background. I highly Recommendation to Maria as your tour guide, he is the kind of friend you will very much enjoy being with her!
Mihaela was the most incredible guide!! It was just two of us and we both felt we connected with her as a friend! She offered wonderful personal experiences and context to the historical facts of the places we visited, so we experienced Bucharest through her. She made the tour personable for us, and we had an amazing lunch of sarmale, mămăligă, and papanași for desert! Could not recommend this tour or our wonderful guide Mihaela more. July was a hot time to go, but we took lots of breaks. Water and a snack (and lunch obviously) is included in the tour, so you’ll be all set!
Bogdan was a great guide. It Was a personal tour since I was the only one booked. I am so grateful they did not cancel. The tour was informative about the history and interesting. It also included a wonderful lunch. Bogdan was so nice, I highly recommend this tour. The max is 8, even with a group it is a great way to get to know Bucharest.
A neat trick to learn about the country you’re about to tour, is to arrive a day early and take a 4 hour walking food and culture tour, like the Bucharest Sights and Bites Discovery. But to get a wonderful docent is the magical charm. I give it 5 stars, especially as our guide was the incomparable Elena, who shared her country’s complex past and present (with a glimpse at its future) by allowing us to see it through her eyes, with the benefit of the experience, sparkling wit and wisdom of her people. She is emblematic of the soul of the long suffering Romanians, their brave and resilient humor - how they have triumphed in the face of adversity - a lesson to us all. We learned about the subtle secret message conveyed by the position of the horse’s tail in the equestrian statue of King Carol I, the monument known as the potato, the homage to the tortured man, etc. She answered all our questions and also gave us great recommendations in fluent English. We learned so much while walking through the streets, pasages and even an ancient caravansaray and thoroughly enjoying the moment. At the end of the walking tour, we sat down to a customizable three course meal of delicious Romanian specialties with a drink at a lively, historic restaurant. Try the local dishes like the mici, pronounced meesh (mixed sausage meat) or the sarmale (meat stuffed cabbage rolls)and do taste the decadent dessert called papanash. OMG. Brava, Elena! Multumesc!
Wonderful tour. Elena was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about the buildings and history. Food was good too.
