I saw the great reviews online and also noticed it was about $20 cheaper than the higher rated identical tour so I went with this one. They even write in their description that they are cheaper and same tour. Well spoiler alert: you end up paying roughly the same $20 difference, because the admissions to the sites and the lunch is not included on this one, but is on the other one. Got picked up right on time with a friendly driver. It was 4 of us on the tour and we were stuffed in a small compact car, 3 in the back. The tour guide Jana was not in the car, as she was running multiple cars multiple groups at the same time and took a different car. You know part of a tour is the guide? Like you want to hear a little about the place, the sights, or even just casual funny interesting things about local culture? Yeh we had none of that. Our driver was nice but spoke little English and tour guide was not around. While he was a nice guy, his driving skills left much to be desired. He kept trying to overtake other cars on the road. Only minor problem is they drive on the right in Mongolia and the driver sits on the right as well. So with a partial view to incoming traffic at the other lane, we had several close close calls to head on collisions. The statue is the most expensive stop on the tour and honestly just boring and not worth it in my opinion. It’s 30,000 admission per person to go up to the top for a photo (with 10+ other people in it), and a slightly better view. The museum signs are not all in English many are just in Mongolian and unless you fascinated about Mongolia history it’s boring. The stop was also very very very long. I was ready to see or do something exciting after 20 minutes. We are there and just killing time and waiting 2 whole hours till we drove off.. I get it. They want to make it a full day tour. But literally they could fill it with so much other stuff. Go to another sight, read the crowd. I asked others, and others also felt that the stop there was way way too long. Next stop was the National park which at least is very nice place. The turtle rock is boring and nothing super scenic but the monetary is beautiful and a great view and a fun climb to the top. Lastly the tour finishes with lunch. The restaurant is OK but nothing better than you find inside the city and also more experience. Touristy touristy type of place. No prices or menus were given to us. We were told price later. Overall, no I cannot recommend this tour. I had wonderful tours in so many other cities around the world, from Madeira to South Africa and from Colombia to Iceland. This tour was not it. Guide was not personal or engaging. The transportation was cramped and stuffy. And the time that was wasted and drawn out was just way too long. The driver and the guide Jana are lovely friendly people. But I was happy to be back in the city at the end.
Everything went very well and our guide knew a lot about the country. We were able to see everything. Highly recommended.
A wonderful day out with a small family-run tour company. Jana was fantastic company, extremely entertaining and knowledgeable, prompt and professional, generous and funny. They also conduct tours out of the capital, and I will definitely use them above any others when I return to Mongolia. Thank you Jana, for a great day out (and the cucumbers 😁).
Excellent introduction to the major sights around Ulaan Baatar. Jana was very knowledgeable and provided amazing insight through out our trip. We were traveling with small children and she was very patience and understanding. Hope to see you on some other trip when I am back. Won't hesitate to book again!
I loved this day out, our guide MJ picked us up nice and early so we were the first to arrive at the statue which was amazing. MJ took photos of us and talked us through some interesting history in the museum. We drove to the National park which was stunning and MJ pointed out different areas of beauty for us to explore. The temple was also breathtaking and MJ ordered us some delicious local food at a ger restaurant which was honestly so delicious. We just had a great day and he got us back to Ulanbaatar in great time so we had the rest of the day to ourselves. I would highly recommend the tour day and MJ as the guide
Excellent tour, comfortable vehicle and quite knowledgeable guide. Very tasty restaurant. Highly recommended your
Brilliant. An essential trip to take while in UB and the guide, Janet, is funny, sweet and generous. I couldn’t recommend it enough. I’m gonna come back and take one of their horse riding/ camping tours. Get it booked!
Jana was an excellent guide on our family day trip (and transport to and from the airport). Her English is excellent and we were able to stop at sites along the way which made the day very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
The guide of my Chingghis monument tour is a standup guy who would give you the shirt off his back! I went on the tour hoping to get a great photo opportunity. I did that, but the guide also introduced me to the visitor center historian who explained everything I needed to know about the Great Khan. This is an A+ company.
A very satisfying day tour! I went in mid-december, it was very cold and I was almost the only tourist around, but MJ was a reliable and knowledgeable guide, took a lot of pictures/videos of me and chose a good restaurant in a ger for lunch. He was always ready to answer my questions but also let me take my time and explore a bit on my own (especially in the wonderful Aryabal Temple, truly beautiful in the snow). Would definitely recommend!
