This was a great way to visit the incomparable city of Dubrovnik in a day from Split. Only 4.5 hours was not much time to see all the sights in the Old Town, but our guide Elena provided a very informative introduction. We were happy not to be staying in Dubrovnik, given how mobbed it was with tourists. The drive with South Tours was long, but well broken up with a nice stop in the charming town of Ston on the way down, and at a roadside winery with gorgeous views on the way back.
We had a fabulous time with our driver, Ivan. He made the drive entertaining simply because he enjoys life. Quick stop in Ston which was a fascinating area. We would have loved to walk to the wall but deterred because of the rain. Once we arrived at Dubrovnik, we had a quick guided tour with a local guide before being left to experience the area on our own. We enjoyed the views from the walk around the wall. The area within the walls is simply fascinating. Ivan was kind enough to stop on the way back to allow us to buy the local orange produce which was outstanding. We enjoyed the tour and highly recommend.
Drakeo was excellent. Told us all about the history of Ston and Dubrovnik very pleasant man also history about Croatia👏👏👏👏 he went right back in history also told us about the recent war which was very interesting
Despite the tour operator confirming the tour at 1300 the day before, they sent a WhatsApp message 1630 the day before the tour stating that it was cancelled due to other guests asking to move to a different date. This happened despite the terms and conditions stating clearly that no changes were permitted within 24 hours of departure. We were unable to move to an alternative date as we had booked for last full day of our holiday in Split. Due to the very late notice we were unable to switch to an alternative provider. Operator provided no options other than refund (which was processed quickly).
Dear Paula, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very sorry for the disappointment caused by the cancellation of your tour. Unfortunately, sometimes guests decide to cancel or move their booking at the very last minute, and as a result the minimum number of participants required to operate the tour is no longer met. This is something we cannot predict in advance, and in this case it unfortunately affected your confirmed tour. While we were able to process your refund quickly, we completely understand that this doesn’t replace the lost experience. Please know we are working on improving how we handle these situations so that we can provide more options and clearer communication. We truly hope to welcome you back on another occasion and give you the full experience you were looking forward to this time. Thank you Kind regards
The best trip to Dubrovnik. Ms. Nina from south tours was so nice and very helfipul. Even the driver was so nice to us and very funny. He made us laugh. Will recommend to all my friends. Had a great time.
When booking this trip, we knew it was going to be a long day in a van. In hindsight, 7.5 hours in a van for a 4 hour visit wasn't a great choice. In Dubrovnik itself, we had Sylvia as a guide and she was a fantastic guide, providing history and insights on the city. We then had 3 hours to tour the city on our own, visiting all the highlights and having a tasty lunch at one of the numerous restaurants. We had no issues with the driver or the van, but Dubrovnik is probably not a great day trip from Split
Fantastic trip and the driver Ivan was the most entertaining driver we ever have meet fun and talkative
Dear reader, We appreciate your opinion and are very happy knowing that you enjoyed your trip to Dubrovnik. Thank you South Tours team
Ivan was the Best driver and made it fun ! Although it was a long road trip it was worth seeing, however he was 100% correct in that there is not enough time in Ston!
I had a fantastic experience on this small group tour from Split to Dubrovnik. Our driver, Ivan, was excellent — informative, engaging, and professional. As we drove, he pointed out landmarks like the Klis medieval fortress, Skywalk Biokovo, and the roadside farm stalls bursting with fresh fruits, vegetables, and juices. We had a brief but enjoyable stop in Ston, famous for its oysters and impressive stone wall. I managed to try fresh oysters at a local restaurant — a real treat! In Dubrovnik, Ivan introduced our group (7 of us) to Niko, our walking tour guide. Niko was knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into the city's rich history, architecture, and fortifications. The Old Town was stunning, though quite crowded and pricey when it came to food and drinks. Ivan was punctual, attentive, and made sure we were all comfortable and safe throughout the day. I really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-organized and informative day trip from Split!
Game of Thrones fans, this is your place! We had a great driver and a super experience. The views are breathtaking! The history is impressive!
