Este recorrido por el lado más local de Roma le permitirá conocer a su amable y experto guía en la Piazza Venezia, en la Columna de Trajano. Podrás caminar por la majestuosa Piazza Venezia antes de dirigirte al famoso gueto judío o barrio judío. Pasarás por ruinas antiguas y descubrirás cómo la comunidad judía era parte de la Antigua Roma. Descubra una de las partes más antiguas y aún en funcionamiento de Roma mientras su guía le da vida a esta zona.

Itinerario
Comenzaremos en la columna de Trajano y atravesaremos la Piazza Venezia antes de subir los escalones de suave pendiente hacia la Piazza del Campidoglio para ver el maravilloso diseño de la plaza que fue imaginado por el gran Miguel Ángel, y que ahora alberga los famosos Museos Capitolinos.
Desde aquí caminamos hasta el Teatro de Marcelo, a menudo conocido en broma como el pequeño Coliseo. Aunque arquitectónicamente similar al Coliseo, el Teatro de Marcelo es un poco más antiguo, se remonta al año 12 a. C. y no albergaba ninguno de los deportes de sangre, y ahora es el hogar de algunos afortunados residentes que viven en los apartamentos sobre el teatro. .
En nuestro paseo veremos los numerosos restaurantes del barrio y nos detendremos para degustar un helado tradicional kosher. Luego, realizaremos un breve paseo hasta la magnífica Fontana delle Tartarughe (La Fuente de la Tortuga), una verdadera obra maestra del Renacimiento italiano tardío, donde descubrirá cómo se construyó en tan solo un día.
Construido en 1555, este es el gueto judío más antiguo. El Papa revocó todos los derechos otorgados a los judíos romanos y les prohibió todo tipo de comercio y la capacidad de poseer bienes raíces. A pesar de esto, la comunidad judía prosperó en el desarrollo del comercio empresarial, una cocina única y maravillosa dentro de sus muros e incluso su propio dialecto de italiano. La Gran Sinagoga, todavía la tercera más grande de Europa, funciona hoy como un lugar de oración y un punto de referencia cultural vital para toda la comunidad judía de Roma.
Desde aquí hay un paseo muy corto hasta el Porticus Octaviae, una enorme estructura construida por el emperador Augusto en honor a su hermana Octavia. Desde el siglo XV hasta principios del siglo XX fue el hogar del mercado de pescado de Roma. Es desde aquí que entramos en el propio gueto.
Concluyendo en la isla Tiberina, donde el pasado y el presente se funden sin problemas en uno, los antiguos romanos utilizaron la isla como un hospital con el río ayudándolos como una barrera natural que ayuda a detener la propagación de enfermedades, y uno de los mejores hospitales de Roma todavía puede ser encontrado en ese sitio hoy. Con una hermosa vista del río, la isla está convenientemente ubicada entre el gueto y el vecindario local de Trastevere y está bien conectada para regresar a cualquier parte de la ciudad.

I was very disappointed this tour was canceled with 20 minutes notice. As this was our only day in Rome left we were not able to reschedule.

Our family had a wonderful experience on this tour - we learned a ton but Jamie kept it dynamic, humorous, and didn’t get too bogged down in the weeds. He made great use of our time. It was only us so appreciated the personal experience and ability to ask our questions, and he accommodated the 4 year old in our crew needing to stop a few times. Loved the emphasis on most Romans supporting their Jewish neighbors throughout history. It was heavy at points but also uplifting and he did a great job balancing those themes. Also the gelato was incredible. Highly recommend!
