Descripción
Como propietario de un viñedo, enólogo y estudiante de viticultura, puedo ofrecer a los huéspedes mi experiencia y educación únicas. Podré mostrarles de cerca y con experiencia práctica lo que se necesita para elaborar vino desde la tierra hasta el proceso de embotellado. Además, soy muy cercano a la comunidad vitivinícola de Krems, lo que me brinda la oportunidad de crear experiencias seleccionadas para mis invitados. Por último, en mis 25 años de carrera en IBM, trabajé con colegas y socios de más de 50 países alrededor del mundo, tengo experiencia internacional con personas de todo tipo de orígenes y culturas.

Itinerario
El río Donau nos guiará durante nuestro recorrido por la región vinícola. El recorrido durará aproximadamente 2,5 horas y se dedicarán 30 minutos conduciendo entre los diferentes lugares.
Conduciremos desde el nivel del mar unos 400 metros a través de algunas carreteras sinuosas para visitar Kapitel Zwei Wine, una microbodega de la región. Kapitel Zwei o “Capítulo Dos” es un experimento para cultivar de forma orgánica y sostenible variedades de uva francesas, incluidas Chenin Blanc, Roussanne y Sémillon, y envejecerlas en ánforas y tanques de acero en Krems an der Donau, Austria. Las uvas se recogerán a mano de un único viñedo o “secado” llamado Kremsleithen. Fue abandonado hace décadas y replantado en mayo de 2022. Kremsleithen se deriva de la empinada pendiente (“Leiten” en alemán) que desciende hasta el río Krems. Fue mencionado por primera vez en registros que datan de 1266 y se encuentra a 300 metros sobre el nivel del mar y está compuesto de suelo franco, arenoso y arcilloso.
La bodega Mantlerhof está situada en el municipio de Gedersdorf, cerca del río Kamp, justo antes de su confluencia con el Danubio. Al oeste se pueden ver las luces de la ciudad de Krems, al este se pueden ver las torres de Grafenegg. Si te acercas a la bodega tradicional llegarás al centro del pueblo de Brunn im Felde. En medio de este pueblo se encuentra un hermoso estanque, en el lado occidental de este estanque hay una antigua mansión con una fachada clasicista temprana. Esta antigua mansión se llama "Mantlerhof", una pequeña bodega familiar con una larga historia. La familia Mantler trabajó en el Mantlerhof durante más de 200 años y su herencia vitivinícola se remonta al año 1365. Trabajamos 15ha de viñedos, donde se elaboran vinos ecológicos de larga duración. Se centran en Grüner Veltliner y Roter Veltliner
Ulrike Filp y Robert Bormuth, junto con sus amigos y familiares, son las personas detrás de Weingut Feldtheorie. Durante sus estudios de ciencias naturales, descubrieron el amor por el vino durante un viaje a Nueva Zelanda. Una vez que terminaron sus estudios lo supieron: que la elaboración del vino sería el foco de sus vidas en el futuro. Viajaron al extranjero para realizar prácticas en Alemania, Australia y Austria antes de establecerse finalmente en Wachau. Cuando surgió la oportunidad de comprar sus propias parcelas de viñedos en el vecino Kamptal, no lo dudaron. Juntos trabajan en la bodega y los viñedos intentando lograr un objetivo: transmitir a todos la singularidad de Kamptal a través de nuestros vinos.
Visitaremos la bodega espumosa WeinSchach. WeinSchach está convencido de que la naturaleza tiene todo lo que un vino extraordinario puede ofrecer. Creen que el vino debería desplegarse libremente en la botella. Desarrolla todo su aroma y encuentra su equilibrio. El objetivo es un Pet Nat a la altura de los grandes espumosos de este mundo. Para lograrlo, están experimentando. Quieren llegar al fondo de las posibilidades. Aunque eso a veces signifique volver al principio. Están convencidos de que estas experiencias dan como resultado grandes vinos. Y la consecuencia lógica es que trabajan de forma biológica en la elaboración de sus espumosos, vendimiados a mano y degüelles.
Terminaremos el recorrido con una corta caminata de 7 a 10 minutos a través de algunos viñedos hasta un mirador con vista a la región.

Tenga en cuenta : el orden del día está preparado para sus intereses y gustos vitivinícolas. También el momento es flexible para cuándo y dónde nos reunimos. Si te alojas en Viena puedes tomar un tren directo a Krems (que es un paseo precioso a lo largo del río Donau) y te puedo encontrar en la estación de tren. Otra opción es llegar a Krems en barco desde Viena y nos vemos en la estación de barcos. Si estas opciones no son adecuadas podemos coordinar una ubicación para reunirse.

Such a fantastic experience with Chris, what a guy! We really enjoyed our time with him, had great conversations, and learned a lot of stuff about the region and its wine scene. Being a bit new to the wine world, I never felt out of place and learned a bunch of stuff that I'll keep in my back pocket for sure. The whole experience was curated to our taste beforehand following some little messages exchanged with Chris, and he came and get us directly at our door the day of the event. The whole thing was super professional and was very well adapted to our style. Thanks to Chris, we tasted some great wines, met nice people, and saw places we would've never seen in Wachau otherwise. Seeing smaller producers felt so important and fun, what a privilege to have seen this! This is one of the highlight of our entire trip in the valley. We left for this tour from Vienna. We did have to figure out how to get from our ship to the pick up point which was near the Schönbrunn Palace. After that, the tour was amazing. At the first stop, it was a small winery, and we tasted several wines from the beginning of the fermentation process to the finished product. It was very educational. The Venner’s were really nice and accommodating in the wines or explained in their uniqueness. This was well worthwhile.

If you want an experience that is wine-forward but wrapped in history, countryside and local, small production vineyards, this it it for you! You’ll read other reviews about how great Chris is as your guide throughout the experience, and it is all true. Knowledgeable, personable and focused in the future of wine making and sustainability… it was fascinating. And to walk on Chris’s vineyard was amazing and frankly the best views on our Vienna trip.

Chris took us on a trip to visit 2 boutique wineries in the wine-growing region near Vienna. It was a pure delight. We were greeted by the winery owner at each place and given a description of their wine-making craft and intent. We were then served tastings of many of their products while they told us about themselves, their winery and the wine we were tasting. Chris, himself, owns/rents several small vineyards in the area and is actively engaged in making wine himself. We walked some of his vineyards and he told us of the history of wine-making in the area and the recent/current state of the industry there. Overall very enjoyable and a unique, small group experience.

Can’t recommend this tour enough - we had the best experience! Chris was an amazing guide and catered the tour to our level of experience (which was low) and wine preferences. The wineries we visited were stunning and Chris’s winemaker friends were lovely hosts. We tried MANY different local wines and loved them - we will definitely be looking for more Austrian wines back in the states!
