Best way to see the city to learn where to focus sections of town you really want to focus on.
You learn from the pilot navigating but you really can’t see anything beyond the bridges you pass under. Probably wouldn’t recommend it.
It was a very relaxing river cruise and a nice way to see York from a different perspective. There isn’t a huge amount to see along the river, but after spending the whole morning walking around York without stopping, it was lovely to sit down, relax and take a break. However, I was a little disappointed with the commentary. I’m not sure whether we had a live captain’s commentary, as it felt more like a recording with a very monotonous voice, which became a bit boring. I expected to learn more about York during the cruise, but for much of the journey there was no commentary at all. We were on the Witheycombe, departing from Lendal at 13:40 on Sunday 16th. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience, but I think the cruise would have been much more interesting with more frequent and engaging commentary.
Lovely well organisation boat trip on the River Ouse, with friendly staff and commentary. Option of sitting outside upsairs, or indoors in the shade.
The cruise down the Ouse was very smooth with the opportunity to see York from a new perspective. The Captain was very amusing and informative with his commentary and entire trip was interesting and the time flew by.
