El monasterio de Voronet fue construido en 1488 en un tiempo récord: tres meses, tres semanas y tres días, siendo hoy parte del patrimonio de la UNESCO. Los murales exteriores han conservado su color a pesar de los siglos de clima inclemente, pero los ingredientes utilizados en la preparación de las pinturas siguen siendo un misterio. Las escenas en los murales representan, como una película, la historia del cristianismo, presentada de una manera original, muy influenciada por las creencias populares, por la cultura oriental, pero también por el pensamiento ortodoxo.
El monasterio de Moldovita, incluido en el patrimonio de la UNESCO en 1993, se construyó entre 1532 y 1537. Durante cientos de años, los murales fueron la única manera en que los habitantes sin educación de los países podían aprender sobre las enseñanzas de la Biblia. Los frescos son una inmensa ilustración en color de escenas bíblicas, adaptadas a la historia del lugar ya los momentos importantes de la vida de la comunidad.
El Monasterio de Sucevita es el más nuevo de los Monasterios Pintados de Bukovina, y fue incluido en el Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1993. Fue construido en un estilo moldavo, con influencias góticas y bizantinas. Los murales están dominados por un tono de verde, obtenido a través de una técnica antigua de pigmentos naturales.

Excellent guide Customized program

We had an absolutely amazing experience on the day trip from Iași to the Painted Monasteries in Bucovina, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Leo. From the very beginning, Leo was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He shared fascinating historical and cultural insights at every stop, making each monastery come alive in a way that you simply wouldn’t get on your own. His passion for the region was truly contagious. The trip was perfectly organized, relaxed, and enjoyable throughout. One of the main reasons we went to Iasi, was to do the Rolandia tour company's Moldova tour, but since we were in this area, we signed up for this tour as well. Leo (Leonard) was our guide, and again he was fantastic. This trip was a lot of driving, but it was really interesting seeing the Romanian countryside and small villages as we whizzed by. Seeing the Stork nests on the street posts throughout the drive was also a pleasant surprise. The three monasteries that we visited were well worth the trip. My favorite was the first stop, but they were all interesting. Leo told us a lot about each of them and made sure we understood as much as possible about each of the monasteries and their artwork. We also stopped at a high point with a neat wooden swing overlooking the countryside, and for lunch in a nice restaurant. We did this trip the day after the Moldova trip- again, two long days, but a very perfect way to see this part of the world.

The experience in the monasteries was unforgettable. The guide was excellent. He described in detail the meaning and value of the frescoes painted outside and inside the monasteries. I recommend this tour with a closed eye.
