Dar es Salaam (que significa "lugar de paz") es la ciudad más grande y antigua capital de Tanzania. En la costa swahili, Dar es-Salaam es un importante centro económico y una de las ciudades de más rápido crecimiento en el mundo.

Nuestro recorrido comenzará en el mercado de Kariakoo. La historia de este mercado se remonta a 1916. Después de que los británicos capturaron a Dar es Salaam de los alemanes durante la Guerra Mundial -1, construyeron un depósito para que su cuerpo de transportistas ya no fuera necesario, el Gobernador permitió que el edificio se usara como mercado, por lo tanto el nombre "Carrier Corps Market" y el hablante swahili pronuncian el nombre como "Kariakoo". Y así es como se conoce hasta hoy.
Después del mercado de Kariakoo, pasará por el monumento de la antorcha Uhuru en el área de Mnazi Mmoja, el antiguo Boma de Dar es Salaam y luego llegará a la Catedral Católica Romana con vistas al puerto. San José es la primera catedral católica romana en Tanzania continental. El edificio principal tardó cinco años en completarse, 1897-1902, y fue consagrado el 15 de octubre de 1908. Está construido artísticamente en estilo gótico con aguja de tejas, un interior abovedado y un relieve tallado sobre el altar principal. El interior aún conserva las inscripciones alemanas originales.
Después de la Catedral Católica, pasará a la Catedral Luterana y luego al Monumento Askari. El Monumento Askari fue construido por el gobierno colonial británico en reemplazo de otra estatua montada por el gobierno colonial alemán en 1911 en conmemoración del Mayor Herman Von Wissmann, el primer Gobernador de África Oriental Alemana, nombrado en 1895.Los británicos lo demolieron en 1916 después de la derrota de Alemania y retirarse durante la Primera Guerra Mundial.
Museum and House of Culture (MHC) es el primer Museo Nacional que se estableció en Tanzania, en 1937 y se abrió al público el 7 de diciembre de 1940. Inicialmente se lo conoció como el Museo Memorial King George V, después del Rey George V de Gran Bretaña quien murió en 1936. En 1962, el nombre fue cambiado al Museo Nacional.
En el camino al mercado de pescado, pasará por la Casa del Estado de Tanzania (no se permite tomar fotografías). Dirígete al mercado de pescado de Kivukoni, aquí verás a los pescadores vender sus capturas a dueños de restaurantes y amas de casa que vinieron a comprar. El mercado se divide en dos secciones principales, que comprenden ocho zonas, una de las cuales es la subasta. En otras secciones, el pescado se limpia, cocina y revende a precios elevados.
Después de la visita al mercado de pescado, tendrá una pausa para almorzar (pagará directamente en el hotel), luego tomará el transporte público desde Kivukoni hasta la carretera de Marruecos, desde allí tomará un tuk tuk (Rick Shaw) hasta el Museo del Pueblo. El Museo del Pueblo, o popularmente "Kijiji cha Makumbusho" (en swahili, "Museo del Pueblo") está ubicado a lo largo de Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road en Kijitonyama. El museo cuenta con una veintena de casas tradicionales que representan a más de 120 grupos étnicos que se encuentran en Tanzania. Las casas incluyen cabañas amuebladas, corrales para ganado y lugares de reunión. Los visitantes pueden entrar a las casas. Después del recorrido por el museo, tendrá la oportunidad de ver sesiones tradicionales de ngoma (danza) que organizamos para usted.
Después del museo del pueblo, completaremos nuestro recorrido visitando el mercado de talladores de madera de Mwenge. En ella verás diferentes productos de talladores de madera hechos del famoso árbol negro africano (Ebony Tree). Más tarde, su conductor lo dejará en su hotel.

The driver pick up at the hotel was over 1.5 hours late. At the minimum, he should have called the front desk the reason for his delay, such as, traffic, car problems, an accident, etc. There was no communication on the morning of the pick up and I was left at the hotel lobby wondering whether, I have been scammed.
Thank you Mr. Chungsen for taking your time for writing review for us. We will take this as a challenge in our industry as every one deserve best service even sometimes can be affected by weather or something else which is out of our control. I contacted front desk of your hotel to let you know that our driver/guide they are on the way but they will delay because of ground situation like road construction going on around the city and rain in some area of the city which cause traffic to reach on your hotel side. As you know your tour was supposed to be done on April 08 and instead you requested to postpone it to April 09. We accepted your requested without any charges and we offered free pick up from your hotel instead of picking you at ferry ticket office. When you meet your drive he apologies to you for delay and told you they will compensate your time but you told is ok no problem since service return smoothly again. Regarding front desk told you accident on way car broken down. Was not true as you saw our vehicle good condition with E registration plate. I also shocked why you was feeling scammed while lobby front desk explaining to you everything. After finishing the tour guide was very happy after telling them you will write good review for him. Also they say you enjoyed your lunch with Impala meat! 😋 We promise you more than best service for next destination. Asante sana na Karibu tena!
This private tour was excellent! From the time I booked the excursion Mansoor was always in contact with me as to what time he would be at the cruise ship to pick us up. He always had cold water available his mini van was in excellent condition and clean. We followed the itinerary that they suggested to see the most important things. The fish market was very interesting on how fish was sold, cleaned and taken to market. The local village museum was interesting on how they lived in the earlier days. We saw both christian churches which was very nice. I can’t say enough positive things about Mansoor and how he took care of us the whole day!

We booked the city tour for our first day in Tanzania without knowing what to expect in Dar es Salaam. Mansoor Mohamed and Sylvester picked us up at the hotel, which was a bit out of town, and on the way into the city, we heard a lot from Sylvester about the history of the city and the current situation. We had a full schedule, but the two of them still accommodated our wishes. We spontaneously walked through a very busy business district. Sylvester was very thoughtful and introduced us to the country's specialties and the mentality of the residents. Two church visits, a visit to the fish market and two museums were still on the agenda. We took our time at the fish market and then went first to the Tanzanian National Museum, where we learned a lot thanks to Sylvester's extensive knowledge and an interesting discussion developed about the exhibits. Afterwards we visited the Village Museum with the various traditional village houses. Here, too, Sylvester knew how to answer every question. At the end of the museum visit, there was the opportunity to see a traditional dance and music performance. It was nice that we had lunch together and then had a coffee to round off the day. Mansoor Mohamed and Sylvester speak English at a very high level. Sylvester is a very well-read and considerate guide, Mansoor Mohamed is an excellent driver. Thank you.

Mansoor ( driver ) and Jibu ( tour guide ) are the best . They are very patient . Give us time to do all the things we need to see . Jibu is very knowledgeable about Tanzania . For a very short period of time he was able to explain to us the important history , current events , Tanzanian culture introduce us to Tanzanian food while we see all the places that was in the itinerary. This duo team are excellent . I wish I have more time to do a safari tour with this 2 guys .
