Excellent Family Food Tour!!

Thank you so much to Anh from Da Nang Food Tour! My family and I took a vacation to Da Nang, Vietnam this summer and decided to try a food tour for the first time. When I initially emailed him, we talked about who would be participating (my wife, mother in law, and two teenage kids) as well as their dietary restrictions and preferences, which he made sure to accommodate. We met Anh right around the corner from our hotel, and despite being a little nervous and unsure of what the night would bring, we immediately hit it off. His warm smile and welcoming introduction put us at ease right away. Throughout the course of the evening, we went to 5 different places. A lifelong resident of Da Nang, Anh explained that he never provides his customers with a set itinerary, nor does he inform the various businesses, mostly family owned and run, that he’s coming to visit. He pretty much played it by ear, taking us to places that he frequents quite often with his own family. These are places that we would have never had the guts to approach, nor know what to ask for, or how we would even begin to order food! We never waited more than 5 minutes for a place to sit down. All the while, Anh answered our questions, told us about the food, how it's prepared and eaten, and engaged us with stories about the neighborhood, as well as the social, political, and cultural nuances of Vietnam! He is very intelligent, knowledgeable, well spoken in both English and Vietnamese, and up on current events. Without giving too much away, the food was amazing, and we all had an absolute blast! I wasn’t sure how my kids would react, but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Afterwards, my quiet and reserved son came up to me and said, “Dad, that food was soooo good! That was awesome!” That really made me happy! After the experience, Anh provided us with a list of all the foods we ate at each place, which was a cool little bonus! The evening we took the tour happened to be a very hot and humid day, even for Vietnam! In addition, several of these businesses do not have AC (only fans), so be warned, it can really get hot! Even so, Anh was attentive to our needs and gave us beaks in between by taking us to little grocery stores with AC for water and snacks! Another thing is the chairs are sometimes very small, and that can be tough if you’re a big guy like me. But overall, these things did not take away at all from the experience, and I highly recommend you step out of your comfort zone like I did and give this tour a chance! I can tell you that my family and I will never forget this wonderful experience! Thank you so much, Anh!!

Great tour

There was a slight miscommunication with the pick up point, nil fault of the guide David. This was quickly resolved and David was very apologetic about it all despite it not being his fault as all. David was the best guide, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You can tell he really loves his job. Lots of food variety and where the locals eat. Highly recommend this tour especially within the first few days of arriving here. Note - if you book through Viator - message them before the tour to either be put in contact with the guide and/or double check/confirm the meeting point (it is not as the dragon bridge).

A good little taste of what locals do eat. David is an easygoing guide. Nice chill walking tour of off the touristy grid of Da Nang.

Excellent walking food tour

David was a great tour leader. He knows all the best places to eat and knows the back alley short cuts to get there. His knowledge of the area is extensive, wr had a great 3 hours walking around the city with him.

Guide never showed up

I went to the meeting place and the guide never showed up. I waited an hour, messaged the tour operator, trached out to viator support (they could not reach the tour operator either).

Danang walking food tour

David was awesome, very lovely and knowledgeable. It was so nice to eat where the locals eat, it was very authentic and delicious, as much as we would have liked to we couldn’t eat it all!

I went to the designated spot to meet up and start the tour. No one showed up. I attempted to reach out to the tour operator via chat function and no one responded. I don’t know if I’ll get my money back but I will try. Very disappointing since I’m only in Danang for one night. I was looking forward to the tour.

Guide Didn't Show Up, No Refund, Nothing.

The guide never showed up, so we didn't get a tour. We waited well after the start time, and still, no one arrived. We have video evidence. Disappointed.

Good walk, interesting where we went

Our guide was very good at communication re the details of the meet. He was also very enthusiastic about the places he took us. Though there were only 4 and I thought there would be 5.

Excellent excellent excellent

I would highly recommend this tour to get a feel for the real food on offer, with a little strolling/relaxed tour around the city at same time. Each place never would have found ourselves, as so local. Pancake rolling lesson the ‘Da Nang way’ given also 😁👍… with one hand! Tour guide- Anh. Willing to answer your questions. Highly knowledgeable about history of Vietnam, as well as lots of other subjects besides. Sense of humour in abundance. Excellent all round enjoyable tour.
