I've always loved St James's Gardens and walk there frequently. I'd say I have a fair awareness of the tales associated with the location, but | learned even more from the knowledgeable guides. This is a really interesting and thought provoking walk. It has appeal for a wide range of people, as it covers folklore, history, eyewitness accounts and the occult. The two guides are lovely, warm people who deliver their information in a very engaging way. I thoroughly recommend this experience. Whether you are interested in the paranormal, like a good ghost story, enjoy a bit of history or even just like to get yourself spooked, accounts and the occult. The two guides are lovely, warm people who deliver their information in a very engaging way. I thoroughly recommend this experience. Whether you are interested in the paranormal, like a good ghost story, enjoy a bit of history or even just like to get yourself spooked, there's something here for you. Just make sure you are spiritually protected before you set out. I, for one, will henceforth be very careful about where I put my feet when walking there.... Warmest thanks to Miss Llewelyn and Mr Roberts for a delightful evening. May you stay safe there in the dark. ...
Highly recommend! Had a great time. Dressed in period attire, the guides were knowledgeable and engaging in their tales of Liverpool's urban legends and history. It was a great way to spend the evening!
What a brilliant experience, my wife was apprehensive about doing a cemetery tour but we both loved it, the guides were very knowledgeable and made the experience interesting and exciting, the atmosphere of the night helped, well worth doing when in Liverpool, highly recommend.
Highly recommend!!! My iPhone was experiencing interference when I was trying to record at the start of the walk, which has never happened before. I ran the Spirit Talker App on airplane mode, on silent whilst going through the walk and it was coming up with keyword phrases and sentences before they were spoken by the people running the walk. Very spooky and intense.
I did this your last night with my children, aged 11 and 14, and we all really enjoyed it ! The hosts were excellent.. entertaining with some really good spooky stories that kept us engaged throughout. Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely brilliant. The hosts were the perfect mix of drama, history and suspense. Very informative and I found out alot about a city I thought I knew!
It was absolutely freezing the night we did this and we even thought it might be cancelled; it wasn't and was in fact well attended. It was very theatrical and informative, my 13 yo son loved it and didn't stop talking about it afterwards. It was a really fun deep dive into a site we probably would have overlooked otherwise, highly recommended. Also recommending the Indian restaurant Spice Bloom to defrost yourself afterwards (which is under 10 mins walk straight down the hill from the cathedral gates).
What a great experience and definitely worth doing! There are some "Ghost" tours that are comical, funny, tongue in cheek - which is great. This is that kind of tour! But it is a very thought-provoking, intriguing, packed exploration of an ionic Liverpool location, led by two people who are experts in their fields - and more importantly - know how to tell a great story in character! So, go back in time and meet your hosts in period costume, let them lead you across centuries of tales, local history and some amazing stories, and be prepared to come out the other side having lived this journey with them, and not just been a passenger on the ride! We had a brilliant evening with a large group of other people we had not met before, everyone's included, everyone is welcome, with regular stops, stories and questions along the way. Would we do this again? DEFINITELY!!
My husband and I decided to take the Tales of the Necropolis tour on our city break to Liverpool as November is the spookiest month, as well as our firm favourite time of year. The tour was superb from start to finish. Our guides, “Miss Llewelyn” and “Mr Roberts”, both dressed in period clothing, were engaging and charismatic. Their delivery was perfectly pitched. They told us spooky tales but all within their historical context, which made it super interesting. I don’t want to reveal anything which could potentially contain spoilers but let’s just say that there were moments when our guides were certainly not “acting” and were telling their real experience. I really wish we could have stopped and taken a picture with the guides, and complimented them about the tour, but we had a dinner reservation to rush to. I hope Mr Roberts and Miss Llewelyn will know from this review how much we enjoyed the tour! I would absolutely recommend Tales from the Necropolis to anyone looking to do something a bit different on a dark night in Liverpool!
Wow! what a way to spend Halloween. The tour guides were really welcoming and made sure that we could all see and hear everything. They are enthusiastic and showed a genuine passion for sharing spooky and historical stories, some of which were very heart warming.
