Jien (our guide) was very knowledgeable and it was a very engaging experience in which we (my family) learnt loads and had lots of great experiences. The bat cave was spooky but thrilling and the snorkelling in crystal clear blue waters was also a highlight. Definite must do if in the area, couldn’t recommend higher!
This is a wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and respectful of nature. We all really enjoyed our afternoon.
Would highly highly recommend JungleWalla. We did both the Rainforest After Dark and the Mangrove River Cruise and Snorkelling tours, and had the privilege of having Jien as our guide for both. He was extremely knowledgable, very dynamic, and did his best to ensure we had the best possible experience, actively spotting wildlife including hornbills, macaques & langurs, emerald doves, and brahminy kites. We had the luck to see up to 20 great hornbills in one tree in the mid-distance. The captain of the river cruise was also excellent, on our way back from the snorkelling site (going top speed, mind you), he managed to spot a trio of dolphins! The tours prioritise eco-consciousness, with practices including not feeding wildlife and moving slowly in the mangroves to avoid damaging them, you can really feel the staff's passion for the environment. Would happily go on a JungleWalla tour again the next time we are in Langkawi.
We organised the trip through Get your Guide. On the morning I had a message from our guide explaining where to meet. We got a cab from our hotel. Masyi was our guide and she was brilliant, informative and funny. We saw, walking fish, crabs, eagles, monkeys, snakes and bats. Would highly recommend.
Azri was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Jungle Tours have a good 'no disruption of nature' policy. Unlike some others! Very happy to recommend these guys.
Our Mangrove River Cruise with JungleWalla was fantastic. Masyi was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who created a great atmosphere for everyone. One of the highlights of the tour was JungleWalla’s strong focus on environmental responsibility and exploring the UNESCO site in an ethical manner. No eagle feeding took place, which we learned is an incredibly harmful practice. We were very lucky to see an otter family during the tour, as well as a newborn macaque being held by its mother. If you are looking to book tours in Langkawi, we highly recommend JungleWalla.
We did the private UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise with JungleWalla, and it was one of the highlights of our trip in Langkawi. We did the morning tour, which lasted around two and a half hours. Our guide, Shaf, was excellent — knowledgeable, easy-going, and clearly very passionate about the mangrove ecosystem and its wildlife. One of the main reasons I chose JungleWalla was their commitment to responsible tourism, and they absolutely lived up to that. Unlike many other operators we saw on the water, JungleWalla does not feed or encourage interaction with the animals. Shaf took the time to explain why this matters — from the long-term health impacts on wildlife to the way feeding creates dependency and changes natural behaviour. During the cruise, we spotted monkeys, eagles, and a monitor lizard, and learned a lot about the mangrove forest, limestone formations, and the wider ecosystem. The wildlife spotting felt respectful and natural, not staged. In particular, Shaf explained how feeding eagles things like chicken skin (which other tours were doing) can negatively affect their health and survival over time. This tour really reinforced how important it is to choose ethical operators, even if it means fewer dramatic photo opportunities. Seeing animals behaving naturally, and understanding their environment, was far more rewarding. If you’re visiting the area and care about wildlife and conservation, I would highly recommend JungleWalla — and especially a tour with Shaf.
Our trip with Junglewalla was very educational. Jien, our guide, knew everything about the important role of the mangrove forest in the ecosystem. We also got to enter the bat cave and snorkel among beautiful fish. A big thank you to Junglewalla and our guide Jien.
This was an enlightening experience! Grateful that the tour is ethical toward wildlife and mangrove preservation. Highly recommend! Our tour guide Masyi was wonderful and knowledgeable and provided excellent commentary while taking care of everyone. I learnt a lot about Langkawi mangroves from her. Our boat captain also did a superb job. If in Langkawi, please book your activities through Jungle Walla, as they are one of the few truly ethical tour companies in Langkawi.
Thank you to our guide Masyi and the capitain. We had a great time and had so much learned about Mangrove. We recommand this tour
