The most appalling and unprofessional tourist experience I have had in many years. From the moment we arrived at the departure point, confidence in the company evaporated. The staff openly debated amongst themselves whether we were even allowed on the boat or should be left behind for a later departure—despite there being only two other passengers on the trip.. It hardly inspired confidence. We had specifically booked and paid for a luxury canal cruise with English commentary. What we received was neither. Our guide introduced himself as Amsterdam’s equivalent of Wikipedia, but that proved to be a remarkable overstatement. Throughout the cruise he provided virtually no commentary whatsoever. He did not point out landmarks, explain the history of the canals, or tell us anything of interest about the city. Or e en explain where we were. Even when asked direct questions, he frequently either didn’t know the answer or showed little inclination to find one. Instead, we were treated to stories about his own life—how he cycles around Amsterdam, the traffic fines he has collected, and other anecdotes that had nothing to do with the tour we had paid for. He also repeatedly tried to persuade passengers to clap and cheer, although none of us were quite sure what we were supposed to be celebrating. Our group consisted of an 81-year-old, a 62-year-old and a 12-year-old looking forward to learning about Amsterdam—not a noisy stag party looking for entertainment. We wanted an informative, engaging canal tour. Instead, we listened to Victors personal anecdotes or were simply ignored. The one bright spot was Cynthia, the skipper, who did everything she could to rescue the experience. She pointed out places of interest, provided snippets of history and local knowledge, and engaged with passengers. Without her efforts, the cruise would have been a complete waste of both time and money. This company advertises a luxury sightseeing experience with commentary. Based on our experience, it delivered neither. I would not recommend it to anyone wishing to learn about Amsterdam or enjoy a professionally guided canal cruise. To describe the experience as luxury with English commentary is simply misleading.
Went a few days ago with Emma and Tobias and it was wonderful! The boat was very relaxing and comfortable. Emma and Tobias did a wonderful job and guided us through Amsterdam and made us understand everything easily, answered our questions and they were also pretty funny, wasn’t boring at all! Overall 10/10 and would definitely recommend it to others and even go again!
JiJi and Fred ❤️ You guys are awesome!
Excellent. The Staffs Emma and Tobias were wonderful!!
A must thing to do. There are many boat trip companies. We went with Lovely because they had an open top. Turns out they’ve only been going a few months but you couldn’t tell. Very experienced driver and Ruben our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions that were put at him. Lasted a good hour. Drinks were available if wanted. We got a discount as we went through tours and tickets.
What a fantastic experience! This afternoon we enjoyed an amazing canal cruise with Lovely Cruises. The captain Omar and host Ema were the perfect team—friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. They shared so many interesting stories about Amsterdam, but always with great humor, which made the cruise both informative and entertaining. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, so I know these canals and their history quite well. That’s exactly why I can honestly say this was one of the best canal cruises I’ve experienced. A well-deserved 10 out of 10! I was accompanied by a foreign guest, and she absolutely loved every minute of it. She learned so much about the city, laughed throughout the tour, and said it was one of the highlights of her visit to Amsterdam. The service was excellent as well. We were offered drinks several times during the cruise, with a great selection to choose from, and the crew made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Whether you’re visiting Amsterdam for the first time or you’ve lived here your whole life, I highly recommend Lovely Cruises. Thank you for an unforgettable afternoon—we’ll definitely be back!
Fun and interesting activity at the same time! You can buy the ticket alone or with drinks included for a little more. We went with Jiji (speaker) and Yordi (captain) and it was very fun. 100% recommended
Guide was engaging, knowledgeable and very informative with stories and anecdotes.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind review. It is so nice to read that the tour was even better than you expected. We are happy that you enjoyed the stories and information shared by our guide, as we always want our guests to learn something while having a relaxing time on the canals. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards
Super nice tour with Fred and Kate. Skipper Fred is very agile with sailing through the sometimes narrow canals and has been able to tell many interesting things about the city in addition to the standard information. Definitely recommended!
Dear guest, Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to hear you had such a fun tour with Fred and Kate. We will make sure to share your kind words with them, and we know they will appreciate it. Thank you for choosing to cruise with us, and we hope to see you again on board. Kind regards
We showed up at the exact location early, but we were told the Lovely Cruises does NOT HAVE an 8pm cruise. They had one at 8:30pm but it was “Unfortunately SOLD OUT”. Fernando did come outside and arrange for us to ride on another canal cruise company, KINBOAT. This company was very accommodating. While we had to pay them €30 each, they were happy to include us on their cruise. I will be working with via tour for a full refund.
