The luau was a lot of fun and was a big party and feast. I enjoyed the entertainment. However, we have heard that other luaus share the pork experience differently and it makes it more authentic. I particularly liked getting a flower placed by the ear, the cliff diver, and some of the extra activities like getting a tattoo. The pork was our favorite menu item!
Great dinner & bar service! The show was good, too! It was a nice island hopping experience between various Polynesian cultures. Was the pork served really from the Imu? They made a show of retrieving a pig from under a chicken wire & ti-leaf covered frame then walking it across the stage, but it's unclear if the actual pig was served. The cynic in me wants to think it was all show, and maybe even the pig we all saw was at best a prop, and at worst, cooked and discarded once its role was complete for the night. The steam tables were already set up before the show started. Was a little disappointed to hear about food waste, and how all leftovers are thrown away at the end of the show. On the other hand, I also get food safety issues which could be preventing the donation of the leftovers. Consumerism is hard, eh?
Mahalo, Allan! We appreciate you taking the time to share both what you enjoyed and the questions that crossed your mind during the show.
Luau was very good. This was the second luau that we went to and would say that the experience was great. Enjoyed the ambiance and the story telling. Recommend getting there early to get in line and I wish we would have bought the preferred tickets. The food was good.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Annie. We're glad the storytelling and ambiance came through for your family.
Great show, great food. Everyone so very friendly.
Mahalo nui loa! Simple, sincere feedback like this means a lot to our whole team.
This is a nice Luau. The food was great with a very nice variety of salads, fried rice, chow mein, tasty fish, chicken, Hawaiian pork, and steak. The selection of deserts were delicious. The selection and alcohol drinks and non alcohol drinks were very good. The show was excellent. The dancers and entertainers were top notch. There were 10 of us and we all very much enjoyed this Luau.
Mahalo, Loretta! We're delighted the variety on the menu, and the performers both impressed your whole group.
I am sorry to rate it one star, but there were SO many bugs. Little black flies were invading our entire plate of food, and landing in our hair. We couldn't enjoy our meal, didn't even eat, and left early. The Sheraton needs to spray the grass lawn for bugs.
This luau used to be so much better. My premium table was off to the side near where all the service happened and felt not very premium at all Felt like a major waste of money for the “better” seating. Also the way things are set up, half of the attendees are going to be blinded by the sun for the first 2 hours. The performances were great, however.
Amazing experience no need to get there early everything is very well organized and ready for you to sit back and relax. The show was phenomenal and the food was perfect! We loved all the veggies! The fish and pork were our family favorites. Kids loved the dessert table. Only downside quite a bit of a walk for a bathroom. We timed it right and left at a break so we didn’t miss much.
Mahalo, Kaitlyn, for such a lovely review! We're so glad the whole family enjoyed the food and the show, and we appreciate the heads-up about the restroom walk for future guests.
We attended this luau during our two-week trip to the Big Island and Maui. While I'm glad we experienced it once, it's not something I would personally do again. That said, I do think it's something everyone should experience at least once if they're visiting Hawaii. The pre-show activities were fun and interactive, and the cultural performances were entertaining, informative, and well done. You can tell the performers put a lot of effort into sharing Hawaiian traditions and history. The food, however, was the biggest disappointment. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it about a 3. There wasn't much that stood out, and it definitely wasn't a highlight of the evening. We purchased standard seating, and unfortunately our view of the stage was very limited. Since we couldn't see much from our table, we moved to the back where there was plenty of open space. We made sure to stand where we weren't blocking anyone else's view. An employee approached us and asked what table we were seated at. The interaction came across as annoyed and unwelcoming, which took away from the experience a bit. Overall, despite that interaction, we still enjoyed the performance itself. However, after everything we've experienced during our two-week vacation on the Big Island and Maui, this was one of our least favorite activities. I'm happy we can say we experienced a Hawaiian luau, but it's not something I would choose to do again.
Our first time to Maui, and we did this over our 20th wedding anniversary. The drinks (Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Kona, and mix drinks) as well as the buffet were absolutely amazing. The entertainment and the atmosphere were all great. We would highly recommend it!
Congratulations on your anniversary, and thank you for choosing us for such a milestone. Glad the entertainment and food made this Maui trip one to remember.
