Was a wonderful experience! Would do it again! Irene was a wonderful host and teacher. Sabrina has an amazing voice..
The atmosphere and entourage is so much fun and the opera singer gave it an extra touch. The cooking class was disappointing. I really expected more of that. I cut some tomatoes and rolled some cavatelli and that was it. That makes me think what you pay for it is out of balance.
In the movie "Solo Mio", Kevin James' character is invited to famed tenor Andrea Bocelli's home in the Tuscan countryside to help cook dinner and listen to great music. You are NOT getting invited to Bocelli's home, but being invited to Lucrezia's home is the next best thing. ---- We visited Lucrezia at her family's villa in the beautiful Tuscan countryside for an evening of fine company, a delicious homemade meal (which we helped prepare), and fabulous music. ---- We found Lucrezia to be a perfectly charming host. We joined her in the rustic kitchen of her 17th-century house to cook our dinner (bruschetta, homemade pasta, chicken cacciatore, and panna cotta). It was a cold evening when we visited, so we ate inside, in the dining room with a wood-hewn ceiling (but before and after dinner, we visited the patio with its views of the estate's vineyard). ---- What was already a fantastic evening was made even better when we were joined by a professional opera soprano who regaled us by singing Italian arias and some other Italian classics. ---- This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. I would give it 8 stars if I could. ---- ---- (One note -- The Viator listing implies that transportation from Florence is included in the price. It is not. It can be added for an additional cost, but you need make prior arrangements with the event operator, Opera in the Kitchen, to add it.)
A beautiful setting, charming antique home, fun cooking delicious food, and spirited opera performance. Recommended.
Loved this experience! We would highly recommend visiting this place for dinner. The food was excellent too. The people who own and run this are so kind and so fun. They are very welcoming. We all enjoyed it so much!
While we weren't sure what to expect, we had a lovely evening. We were two of ten participating, and everyone did a little of the dinner preparation. Learning to make Cavatelli was the highlight for me; it's easy to do at home! We had a driver to and from the venue, so it was not an issue to find the place. My son uses a wheelchair, and the hostess was quite accommodating.
It was an incredible cooking class experience in Chianti, set inside a beautifully preserved 16th-century house. Overlooking the rolling vineyards. The hosts were welcoming and passionate. We prepared fresh pasta, sauces with local ingredients. We picked out fresh ingredients from garden. Everything was hands-on, yet relaxed. After the cooking, we enjoyed our meal together with excellent Chianti wine and professional opera performance. It was more than just a class—it was a cultural immersion, blending history, food, and the joy of sharing a table. I can’t recommend this experience enough. If you’re in Tuscany and want something truly memorable, this is it!
We were entranced by the house, farm, and the view of the land. Coffee was served and we got to know each other before cooking. We started by harvesting from the garden and fig tree our ingredients. Then into the rustic kitchen with a local woman who taught us traditional cooking: simple, informal, warm, familial, aromatic- PERFECT. Dinner was amazing. The prosecco was excellent. The house Chianti wine the farm makes paired well with our meal. The opera singer just elevated what was a heavenly experience. It was the highlight of our 10 day Tuscany expedition.
We are a young Florentine couple and we had the pleasure of discovering Opera in The Kitchen, an experience that really surprised us. At first glance it might seem designed only for tourists, but it is much more. Lucrezia was fantastic from the first moment: she welcomed us with a sincere smile, making us feel immediately at home, regardless of where we come from. He is a sunny, helpful and incredibly kind person. The experience far exceeded our expectations: the location is lovely, the warm welcome and the masterclass engaging and fun. We brought home not only new culinary skills, but above all a beautiful memory. Highly recommended also for those who, like us, live in Tuscany and want to treat themselves to something special.
Cooking was fun. Food was great. Opera singer was excellent!! We enjoyed meeting other travelers too!
