Visitarás el Monasterio de Alcobaça, un monasterio cisterciense del siglo XII, fundado por el primer rey portugués, Afonso Henriques. Aquí también escucharás la verdadera y trágica historia de amor del rey Pedro I e Inês de Castro mientras admiras sus tumbas.
Esta obra maestra del gótico portugués resultó del cumplimiento de una promesa hecha por el rey João I en agradecimiento por la victoria en la batalla de Aljubarrota contra el reino de Castilla (1385), que aseguró el trono y garantizó la independencia de Portugal.

We made a stop in Tomar to see the Convent of Christ on our way from Porto to Lisbon and are so glad we did! It is a UNESCO world heritage site and former headquarters of the knights Templar. The building is stunning and in very good shape. Parts are under renovation but it is still worth the visit. Every bit as stunning as the monastery in Lisbon. Be sure to stop and visit
We had a fantastic time going on the Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaca monastery tour. Our tour guide, Sandra, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of each monastery and could explain all the small details of the architecture and artwork we saw that day. She was such a wonderful person, very engaging with us, and made our experience truly fun and memorable.

We booked 3 separate tours, our guides were Sandra and Luis. Sandra for the Tomar, Batalha and Obidos tour and the Lisbon tour as well. Luis was our guide for Sintra. Both were really fun and extremely knowledgeable. We saw and learned so much more than we could have on our own. I HIGHLY recommend No Map Tours.

Our Monasteries Tour through No Map Tours was exceptional, especially thanks to our guide Sandra. Sandra is a very knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about Portuguese history. The castles and monasteries are spectacular! The trip was very well organised, in a comfortable car, with all needed breaks. She picked us up at our hotel and returned us back.

The tour was incredible, we learned a lot more about Portugal, we loved it! We visited Batalha and Tomar on the day, with lots of history and learning.

We had a great time on this trip. Our guide Sandra spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable, engaging and funny. She accommodated our request for a specific lunch stop while we’re in Tomar. All the stops were beautiful, and having a guide really helped us understand what we were seeing. We came for the art history. Sandra showed us many details in the tombs and architecture that we probably would have overlooked visiting on our own. I highly recommend.
