This was a really educational and interesting session. The translator does a great job explaining about the Maiko’s lifestyle. There was plenty of time for questions and answers. Lots of local crafts available to buy in the building too.
Very interesting insight into life of Geiko. Great opportunity to ask questions and have answered by genuine Geiko.
This experience was the highlight of my Kyoto trip! This young girls life, her story, the traditional costume and dance. I loved it! Book now! It’s only 45 min but it’s enough
It was an interesting experience because there was a Q&A session with the Maiko to learn a little bit about her life and experience. On the other hand, overall experience a little short. 2 dances of only 2 minutes...
Thank you very much for attending our Maiko experience and for taking the time to share your impressions. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed the Q&A session and learning more about the Maiko’s life. During the performance, the Maiko presents two traditional dances, each lasting approximately three to five minutes, with songs that change according to the season. We sincerely appreciate your valuable feedback and hope your visit provided a memorable glimpse into Kyoto’s cultural traditions.
Wonderful and educational. The Maliki was so soused and elegant and so maturely answered our questions. Such a unique experience that one cannot have anywhere else in the world.
Thank you very much for your kind words. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed this special experience with our Maiko, and we’re so glad her grace and performance made your time in Kyoto truly memorable.
This was billed as a 45-minute activity, including the Q&A period following the dance. The dance itself was very brief (8 minutes) and the rest of the time was the Q&A session. While we enjoyed seeing the maiko dance so gracefully, it would have been nice to have more dance and a shorter period for questions--although (don't get me wrong) we enjoyed this part of the presentation, as well.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed watching the Maiko’s graceful dance and appreciated the Q&A session. The program is designed to offer both a performance and an opportunity to learn more about Maiko culture directly from them; however, we understand your wish to see more of the dance itself. We will carefully consider your comment as we review and improve our future presentations.
It’s great to see a Geisha in training. She was very poised. I was glad that I was able to ask questions and take pictures with her. The Handicraft Center was a superb venue.
Thank you very much for your kind words! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed meeting the Maiko and appreciated her poise. We’re also glad you had a great time asking questions and taking pictures. We hope to welcome you again!
This was our final evening in Japan and our tour company has reserved this dinner with the Maiko performance for us - this was such an honorable way to conclude the trip to Japan, very special! Maiko dance and moves were peaceful and relaxing, but even more was her personally and the way she carried herself during the "ask questions" part afterwards, though my absolutely favorite experience was when we played this Japanese version of the "rock paper scissors" game with her and she started singing - absolutely loved it! It was interesting to learn to process of becoming Maiko & Geiko (Geisha in the East of Japan) - quite a life time and a 24/7 type of commitment just for a very few brave and persistent ones, but that seems to be story of the old world and old ways in this XXI, the only way to keep old traditions alive is to make a great sacrifice in your life and for that an absolute respect to all Maikos and Geikos
Thank you very much for participating in the "Maiko Dinner Plan" specially arranged by your tour company. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Maiko’s dance, the cultural exchange, and traditional games, and we truly appreciate your warm feedback about Japanese culture. For those viewing this page, please note: This review was written by a guest who joined a special dinner-included plan. The "MEET MAIKO: Meet-&-Greet, Maiko Show & Experience in Kyoto" event introduced on VIATOR is a 45-minute program featuring a Maiko performance and interactive cultural experience only; meals and ozashiki (banquet) games are not included. Please be sure to check the event details before making a reservation. We will continue striving to provide opportunities for everyone to easily experience the traditional culture of Kyoto.
