Great group… lots of patience teaching first timers. My grandkids had lessons ( the 9 year old had a private one) and they just loved it. You may need a few lessons to really get the habg of it… it’s tougher than it looks.
Instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful. We had a group of 5 students, an instructor and a camera man. It was FUN!! All of us got the feel of how to surf and most got up on a wave.
Great outreach/customer service. Instructors were very welcoming and calming. Their instructions were spot on for each individual. My 12-year-old was surfing, with no fear within 10 minutes of entering the water. They had so much fun!
This was a phenomenal experience. No matter what level you surf, this is the perfect place for you. The instructor was great and gave each student simple modifications that made huge differences to catching those beautiful waves. Major mahalo.
I will say that the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. I could not emphasize how patient they are with people. It was a first for me and I was not the best to say the least. But they made sure I good the whole time and always gave a helping hand. It is one of the experiences that is a must try in Hawaii!
It’s exhausting and uses muscle groups in your arms you probably don’t use for much, but it’s really fun!
The guides were very helpful and courteous. After a brief demonstration and practice session at their shop we went to the beach. Everyone had adequate opportunity to catch a wave and the guides helped.
The lady at the front desk to check in (didn’t catch her name, sorry) was helpful and kind! Tanner and Pete are great instructors. They were both very knowledgeable, encouraging and created a positive learning environment for first time surfers. This was my first time surfing and with their guidance I was able to surf 3 waves!!! I’ll never forget this cool experience I had and highly recommend anyone looking to get surfing lessons in Oahu, to book with this place!

Big Wave Dave’s Coffee Surfing lesson was fantastic. My instructor, Peter, gave amazing instruction and focused on the practical things that would actually get me up and surfing, rather than worrying too much about perfection. His coaching was clear, encouraging, and easy to follow, which made the whole experience fun and confidence-building. I really appreciated how he kept the lesson focused on progress and enjoying the ride. Highly recommend Peter and Big Wave Dave’s for anyone wanting a great surf lesson.
