We learned how the distillery operates, why they use stainless steel stills, what the mash is, and even watched the fresh spirit come off the still (i.e., moonshine) Then we got down to business and began creating. We got to choose from what felt like endless flavor options—ginger, lemongrass, almond, cinnamon, vanilla, and many more. Then we blended our own recipe and left with a personalized 750 mL bottle complete with a custom label and a wax seal. We also arranged transportation directly through the Academy of Rum. Our driver, Bernie, was punctual, friendly, and shared some interesting history of Antigua during the drive. This was a far more economical decision than finding our own taxi. Overall: A+. This was a unique, hands-on experience.

I booked the Rum Making Masterclass at Galleon Beach as a solo traveler, and it was blast from start to finish! The host were engaging, and the hands-on process of distilling and labeling my own custom bottle of rum was so much fun. Quick tip for anyone booking solo...you do a lot of tasting around 6 generous samples before you even start blending, so you absolutely need to have a driver or arrange a taxi in advance. This was the highlight of my time in Antigua!

This was ridiculously fun, unique, interactive, right across from a stunning beach and gave the opportunity to taste more rum flavors than you could imagine, concoct a super imaginative or just ordinary flavor to call your own, then distill, mix, label with your own tailored name and bring home all on the spot. It was interactive, educational, entertaining and like participating in an adult science experiment.

Hospitality was 10/10 from both Yana (sorry if I spelt the name wrong) and Jodie. They were very attentive and had a great knowledge of what they were talking it. It was an amazing spontaneous experience booked in less than 24 hours. If you want to do anything in Antigua I would deffo recommend you come here and make your own rum. Also there are plenty of great rums you can buy. We got a peanut butter one and a aged rum (very smooth drink but got a punch). The price of the rums are very reasonable so my advice would be to buy it online (thats if you book it online) so you get the discount. If you don't book it as an add on If you didn't book it as an add on like myself the price is still reasonable in comparison to what you would pay in duty free for rums that are very generic.

I’m not a drinker but it was cool experience to learn making personalized rums. And staffs were very friendly.

This is a great, fun experience to learn so much about rum whilst getting drunk! There was so much that was enlightening whilst getting 6 shots to sample and then came the fun part of making your own rum. Also, set on a beautiful quiet beach. Thank you Jana for a fabulous session!
