We had the most wonderful experience! Our family of four had never done anything like this before, and walked away extremely happy. Chef Vary was so helpful, patient, knowledgeable and engaging. She tailored the class to exactly what would be best for us. The food was absolutely delicious, and the company was excellent. I highly recommend!
Just had the BEST time with Chef Vary in Florence! We did a private gluten-free cooking class and made pizza, ravioli, gnocchi, and tagliatelle—all from scratch in her dedicated gluten-free kitchen. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Florence. If you’re looking for an authentic, fun, and safe culinary experience—especially if you have dietary needs—don’t miss this!
A definite HIGHLIGHT of our Italy trip! This was such a fun class. Chef Vary and her team created a terrific gluten free and dairy free menu. Irene was a great teacher and chef, sharing her knowledge, and letting us do the work. We had a great meal - ravioli, gnocchi, and an alternate Tiramisu. So good - and would highly recommend.
We booked a class for 9 people with high expectations. We were sent a list of choices of what we could cook in the way of pasta. 4 weeks before the class, we chose 3 pastas that we thought would appeal to our group. Chef Vary greeted us and asked who chose the menu. One of our group raised her hand and Chef vary said, "Why did you pick such a boring menu?" Great way to endear yourself to your guests who are paying to be there! what a nasty way to start! She had 4 weeks to make suggestions if she thought the choices were boring. From there it went downhill. She led us through simple pasta making and then took over at the stove with only one person helping...so everyone else sat there and waited....and sat in their phones with nothing to do....when the food was ready, she just left us to eat it and did not engage at all. she was in the front of the shop having wine with other people! Worst cooking class ever. We didn't even get written or emailed recipes to take home. She is dismissive and nasty. DO NOT GO THERE. I have taken cooking classes all over the world and this was by far the least enjoyable experience.
Our family did a private cooking class with Chef Vary. She was an absolute delight. She taught us how to make and prepare three types of pasta from scratch. The results were delicious! Our family had a blast with Chef Vary and learned so much in just a few hours. Chef Vary is super knowledgeable and makes cooking simple and fun. Plus, she has a wonderful sense of humor. Our family highly recommends taking a cooking class with Chef Vary!
This was a great class. The host and hostess were awesome. I had a lot of pasta to take home. The only thing I am missing is the recipes. How do I get them?
Chef Vary is fabulous! She curated an amazing Italian "Thanksgiving" feast for us to prepare as we took her class on American Thanksgiving! Turkey meatballs, sweet potato gnocchi and a savory pie. All topped off with blueberry tiramisu! It was truly one of the best meals and evenings of our life. Vary and Edo made us feel so welcome in their home and it was the perfect Italian cooking experience. Right in the heart of Florence, you will find Florence's true heart, Chef Vary! A must for any cooking fan visiting Firenze!
I can't say enough good things about this cooking class. We planned our first trip to Italy many months in advance. I spent so much time reading reviews and looking at cooking classes. I could not find one that would be 'perfect' for us. Then, I stumbled on this one - must have been my lucky day. We ended up with a private class, just the four of us. One just finished culinary school, and the rest of us just every day cooks. ALL of us learned something and it was so very fun! The food we made was THE BEST food we had during our entire trip to Rome, Reggello, and Florence. She is amazing. It was very relaxed and we just loved it. THANK YOU! We will be back if we travel to Italy again.
My daughter-in-law and I took a private cooking class with Chef Vary. It was a great experience. We made a variety of pastas, focaccia bread, and meat sauce. She was very patient and taught use each step. She was also very funny. The food that we made was great. I know that I will make some of the recipes when we get home.
Our family of 4 (with 2 teens) participated in a private cooking class with Chef Vary in her home. My daughter has several food allergies and Chef Vary worked with me to create a delicious allergy-friendly meal for us. She went above and beyond and the food was marvelous. We made 2 types of flavored pasta with amazing and unique sauces for each. We also made 2 types of polpetes and foccacia. It was all very hands on and she gave wonderful directions. All of us loved every minute of it. When the cooking was done, we sat down in her dining room for a private meal for the four of us. Chef Vary and her husband Eduardo were simply wonderful and we loved learning from them and getting to know them. Having this class in their home added to the evening (vs. being in a large group in a classroom setting). I cannot recommend the experience highly enough. This is a MUST DO if you are in Florence.
