Timeline was tight to get into Roma for a shore excursion to the Colosseum and the Vatican. Our driver was a huge help to make that possible and comfortable. Highly recommend if you only have one day to hit Roma starting from the port…
Thanks David for recommending us and pleased you could enjoy your Private Rome Tour!
I would very highly recommend Shore Excursions in Italy, after our wonderful experience in Rome May 2026. Our driver, Frederico, was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable, not to mention a good, safe driver. We were picked up literally steps from our ship. Also. we received very prompt replies to all our communications with Monica, she was terrific. We were very impressed with all facets of this company. They would receive my highest recommendation.
Thanks so much for your nice review! Glad to know you had a good time with us!
I don’t think we could have navigated Rome without Jose our driver in the 8h shore time. We were able to see the Colosseum underground and floor (separate tickets). He dropped us off on time and exactly where we needed to be. Then picked us up for a visit to Vatican museums (separate tickets). Got us on time to get back to ship. We were able to catch lunch at a bistro and visit Trevi fountain too and at the end he was able to take us to the best view of Rome
Thanks for your review and Happy to know you could visit all the Highlights you were supposed to!
Marco was great! He made sure we were able to visit all the sites on our wishlist. We visited the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain
Thanks Jolene! Glad to hear Marco showed you all your wishlist sites!
Fabulous private tour of Rome with Riccardo. Dropped at so close to all the sites and was there immediately when finished. He was a brilliant guide and had a really comfortable car. Thank you for making Rome memorable.
The guide from Shore excursions Italy was great. He tried to get us tickets for inside the Colloseum and Vatican, but was unable to. The reason for this was the confusion with my initial phone conversation with Viator, as I asked if they could book both of these skip the line tours. The agent gave me the price and a reserved time for both. He said that with my reserved times I just needed to inform our driver and he would take care of ticketing. The driver said he is not responsible but would try. Communicating with Viator was difficult. The rating for the driver would be 5. Viator would be 1. When I first talked with Viror and told them what I wanted for the Rome tour, I believed the price included the tickets.
Hi Steven, This Is Monica from Shore Excursions in Italy (We are Viator's Suppliers but Independent Company from them). Regarding your entrance tickets to the Colosseum and Vatican Museum which are Not included in the tour rate, in our attached confirmation e mail, we did our possible to explain you where to buy them and after Viator's Customer service contacted us asking to buy them for you, we agreed but when I sent you their cost, which of course It depends on which travel office we buy them, availability and day, their cost can be different. Once I advised you about the cost, you answered me that you got them through Viator at a lower rate so I told you no problem, feel free. When out driver picked you up at the dock and asked you if you got your entrance tickets through Viator, he realized you did not and in spite of this, tried to get them at the last minute without success. Here as follows I Copy the conversation we had each other: Dear Steven, Thanks for your Reservation made through Viator! I'm pleased to confirm you the following booking: Civitavecchia Port on Oct 13th at 08.00 a.m., waiting for you in front of the ship, (No shuttle bus), at the end of the "Arrival Lounge" outside, (if any at the dock), where your driver will pick up the 2 of you only, holding a sign your name on It. Your driver's contact number: xxxxxxxx If you want to visit the Colosseum inside (09.45 or 10.00 am) and the Vatican Museum plus Sistine Chapel (01.30 or 02.00 pm), please prepurchase the tickets or a group guided walking tour (1 hr max at the Colosseum and 2 hours at the Vatican) on "click link here🔗 We are looking forward to meeting you soon! Monica Shore Excursions in Italy Aug 16, 2025, 11:26 AM I talked to a Viator agent today, Sunday, to reserve a Closseum entry ticket. He told me 30.00 euros apiece for my wife and I. Total of 60.00 euros. Also, booked the Vatican Museum. Again the cost was 60.00 euros total. The email I received from Customer Care VI after the phone call totaled 120.00 euros for the Colosseum and 160.00 euros for the museum. Why the increase? Aug 24, 2025, 06:25 PM Hi Steven, This Is Monica from Shore Excursions in Italy, Viator's and Trip Advisor's Suppliers and we were contacted by Trip Advisor's Customer service asking if we could buy tickets for you. We usually do not but we agreed and the tour operator providing them, required us €60 each for the Colosseum and €80 for the Vatican. If you already talked to Viator's agent today and he gave you a different lower rate, please feel free to get them through Viator. Entrance time can be 10.00 am at the Colosseum and 01.30 pm at the Vatican. Monica Shore Excursions in Italy
we had a great time during our time in Rome. Our driver had great skills for communicating the history of the different places we were visiting. He adjusted to our needs and planned with us the trip. He would tell us amazing facts about the places and he truly liked to guide people around the city. Would recommend him 100%.
This private tour was everything I had hoped for! Riccardo met us at the boat with a sign with our names. We rode in luxury in a new Mercedes van. He got us to every destination on time and made sure that we were in the right line and had ample time to sightsee. We had a short time to see all of Rome and we did everything. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny! I highly recommend this tour and this company!
This exceeded our expectations because of our driver, Ricardo. He made our day just perfect! We were able to see all that we asked and also have the best recommendation for our lunch which was amazing! Thank you Ricardo!!
Excellent private tour. The driver was nice and very accomodating to our requests. We had an excellent day! The drive is rough. Very tight and winding. The driver was excellent. It might have been nice to have more opportunity to see the beautiful views and take photos, but so hard to stop along the way. Boat tour may be a better option.
