Ciudad Perdida - Ciudad Perdida Colombia

Friday, September 25th was the day we set off on our hike to Ciudad Perdida. We did the trek with Magic Tours, and from the very beginning of the planning until the end of the tour, everything was absolutely perfect! While we were still in Belgium, we were able to call them to arrange everything clearly. Once we arrived in Colombia, they were always immediately available to answer any questions we had. They also arranged our transportation from Minca to Santa Marta, which allowed us to stay longer in Minca. Our guide was Wilson, and he has an incredible amount of experience, having been doing this for decades. You could see this not only in everything he told us, but also in the way he helped everyone and how well he knew everyone along the way. If you have the chance to have Wilson as your guide, definitely go for it! He was incredibly helpful whenever things got difficult and always let everyone do the hike at their own pace. Magic Tours really made sure that we had an amazing (but challenging!) four days. Thanks to their fantastic cook, we had delicious food and snacks every single day. Even though we were deep in the jungle, everything was prepared with great care and was very well looked after. We don't speak Spanish, but that wasn't a problem at all because they arranged a translator for us, Juan. He translated everything Wilson told us about the daily schedule, the indigenous communities, and Ciudad Perdida. He wasn't only incredibly helpful during the four-day trek, but also afterwards, giving us lots of useful tips and advice. Jeison from Magic Tours also helped us tremendously afterwards by providing us with additional information about Santa Marta and he kept our lugage for an extra day safe. He really went above and beyond to make sure the rest of our Colombia trip went smoothly as well. We are incredibly grateful to Magic Tours, Wilson, Juan, Jeison, and the entire team for making our Ciudad Perdida experience so special. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone planning this trek!

We planned our trip to Colombia around this tour to The Lost City online; the people in the office were always very attentive and willing to help. The true recognition goes to our guides Luis David and Brayan, always with the best attitude and availability to help us, resolve doubts, and motivate us to keep going; none of this could have been possible without them. Every minute of sweat and suffering while climbing is worth it haha

Greatly recommended, the tour itself is a very cool journey through the jungle in which you meet the indiginous population of the Sierra Nevada. The background information about Ciudad Perdida provided along the way by guide Jose Garcia gives it an extra layer of immersion making it feel like a really complete experience. The parts delivered in song were especially nice! The paths are very well maintaned and facilities along the way are very decent. Bring enough cash for bottled water and dont take long sleeves like I did!

I had an amazing time on the lost city tour! I decided to do it last minute and couldn’t be happier with my decision. We were lucky to have a great guide (José) with 28 years of experience taking visitors to the city, his depth of knowledge was unmatched and excellently communicated by translator David. The camps were clean and comfortable with beautiful swim spots and the food was just what was needed after a long days walking. Would highly recommend doing a tour with Magic Tour :)

Jose Garcia was our incredible guide along with our translator Davide, who took us on the 4 day trek to the Ciudad Perdida. They made this experience unforgettable and I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about visiting.

The lost city trek has been my favourite tour during my three months of travel through central and South America. Magic tours created a welcoming and fun atmosphere. The food was remarkable, cooked by Chef maya. Sofia (our translator) was extremely helpful and engaging, answering all of our questions (of which there were many.) Our tour guide Nicholas was such a character and made the entire experience delightful. He ensured everyone could hike at their own pace (‘tranquila’ for us), and kept everything lighthearted with his singing. I would recommend magic tours (particularly our team) to anyone debating which company to use. Thank you so much #thetomates

We had been looking forward to the hike very much and had high expectations beforehand. To make a long story short: they were clearly exceeded. That was mainly due to the great guides Maria and Saul. The two of them made the tour an incredibly great experience with their knowledge, their humor, and their organization. Especially for our non-Spanish speaking group, Maria provided perfect support with her excellent English. Saul and his experience were unique; his passion for the Sierra Nevada was unmistakable. Additionally, kudos to the kitchen. There were three set meals a day. Miguel and his team cooked delicious and plentiful food. Besides that, there was fruit like pineapple or oranges during the many breaks along the way, super fresh and a delight! Now for the actual part, the hike. It is definitely four strenuous days that challenge you, even as a fit person, but it is definitely doable. The reward, besides the great trail, is of course the Ciudad Perdida. We had perfect weather and light when we arrived in the morning as the first group. Forget the pictures from the internet, see it for yourself, it is magical :)

My partner and I did the excursion to Ciudad Perdida with Mono, from Magic Tour Colombia. It was a tough route, but everything went very well thanks to our guide, who was always attentive and explained in detail everything we needed to know both for the route and about the area and the history. I recommend it!
