The Godfaren tour itself was good, and the places were great to visit. I would like to have about 30 extra minutes in Savoca, as it felt a little too short. Unfortunately, the audio guide did not work, which made the experience worse. The bus driver spoke only Italian and tried to explain with gestures and Italian where we should go when the bus stopped. It was hard to understand, and we had to figure out what was special about the different places. It took unnecessarily long. The bus driver was good at driving, but the driving style was a little too hectic. On the narrow and curved roads it was sometimes experienced as rally driving, and it felt a little scary at some moments. Overall, the trip was nice, but better information, a working audio guide and a quieter driving style would make the experience significantly better.
Avoid CityBySee for your own personal safety! We booked the Godfather tour leaving from Taormina, and before departure we checked at the local office on return times as we had to collect our car from the parking lot before 8pm or risk being stranded in the town overnight. Informed that it should be back by 6:50pm at the local booking office, and then reassured by the tour rep at the bus station that by latest it should arrive back by 7:20pm, but normally closer to 6:50pm, we felt re-assured that we would be back in time. After about 30 minutes into the journey the bus broken down at a busy junction, stranding us there while they attempted to get a mechanic to attempt to fix it on the side of the road. While this was happening I tried to explain to the driver who was in charge of the tour that we needed to be back in time. When they did manage to get the bus to work again, I asked would we back in time, and his was response was non-committal, maybe/maybe not, so I asked could they get us back as it wasn’t safe for us to travel forward, especially if there was a chance the bus could fail again… and when we couldn’t get back on, he just drove off abandoning us by the side of the road with no assistance. We could not find transport back, and ended up walking 2.5km along a busy road with no footpath, at probably the hottest time of the day, to get a cable car back to they bus station we started at. CityBySee do not seem to consider the safety of the people on their tours, and the state of their busses is questionable, I would recommend avoiding at all costs
While on holiday in Taormina Sicily with my husband & son, we sought an open-top bus tour & discovered this agency located on the same street as the bus terminal. All the staff members spoke English & were extremely accommodating. Even though we declined the offer, one staff member kindly proposed to escort us to a bus stop to ensure we boarded the correct bus. We participated in two bus tours with this agency & thoroughly enjoyed both experiences.
Very well advised by Valentina at the point of purchase. The visit to Castelmola and Taormina is very pretty. I recommend it.
Merci beaucoup pour votre conseille!!
This tour is relatively cheap by comparison with other tours of the Godfather film sets @ €25 pp. the tour takes an open sided bus from Taormina bus station at 3:20 pm bia various pick up locations on the way. The tour takes you firstly to the village of Savoca, where the Bar Vitelli is the attraction as well as the church on the hill. Missing from the tour is a short guide of what to see and where the attractions are, we relied on asking the staff at Bar Vitelli for directions- second is the village of Forsa D’Agro again left to you own devices to explore this village whose narrow quaint streets double for the village of Corelloni - again a snall guide if provided would have been helpful. I suppose you get what you pay for !!
Paid just 20 euros for this four hour Bus Tour from the main Bus station. Visited Savoca where you had a one hour stay which was enough time to have a drink and Cannoli in Bar Vitelli then onto Forza D'Agro for a 40 minute stop. Heard a lot of negative reviews but we thought it was excellent value and really enjoyed the open Top journey up those real bendy and scary roads.
Terrible experience.. We purchased the ticket from Valerio (Taormina Bus Terminal). Once the panoramic tour started and we arrived in Letojanni it started raining and the driver, despite various requests to stop because the water was entering everywhere, did not stop. Once we arrived in Savoca, completely wet, we discovered that the bus was not equipped with a side cover, so no type of assistance was guaranteed (For them, getting wet in the rain is normal because it is an ''ABSURED'' panoramic tour ).
We had a beautiful experience and had a lot of fun. The godfather tour was worth every penny. Also, we webt to Castelmola were the view is breathtaking. The drivers are super nices, the buses come on time , and the timetable is good, the come every one hour , so you have plenty of time to ealk and sightseeing. Michela was amazing, she explaind everything when we bought the tickets , so we were wll informed.
Very kind staff, punctual timetables, efficient service Valerio at the terminal and Giovanni (driver) very kind, efficient service 😊
We paid €80 for what we believed was a service that had a Bus every hour at the advertised times and pick up points. We never received the audio as promised. We waited over two hours after the time we were told the bus would arrive and the driver blamed it on traffic! He then said there was only two more buses that day after 1 o’clock every two hours. I said it was supposed to be an hourly service and he laughed and blamed the traffic. We again waited until well after 3 for the Bus paranoid it wouldn’t turn up and didn’t enjoy the service.
