Great day trip from Prague! Plzen is a beautiful town and the brewery tour was fun and interesting. The Zbiroh Castle has so much interesting history. Peter was a great guide. Highly recommend!
We were picked up on time in front of our apartment by Peter. From the start he was super friendly, deeply knowledgeable about all 3 parts of the tour (the castle, the brewery, the city of Pilsen). The castle tour was in Czech (provided by castle staff) though we paid extra for the English audio (unsure if its offered in English, we were the only 2 English speakers/non Czech speakers). After the castle we headed off to the Pilsner Urquell brewery. That was an excellent tour (in English by brewery staff) showing the history and evolution of the brewery. The tour finished in the "caves" where the barrels used to lager (some still do) and we were provided a sample of the unfiltered beer. We had lunch in town and wrapped up with a short walking tour of Pilsen provided by Peter. Overall this was a great experience and we highly recommend. Its a long day but worth every penny....or koruna.
We had a private day-trip with Michal which turned out to be one of our favorites. Michal was a fantastic guide who was charming and personable. He took our needs and wants into account and managed to provide us with a wonderful day outside of central Prague. He was an excellent driver and a pleasure to speak with. He provided us with recommendations within Prague that we took advantage of and he was absolutely correct! I would highly recommend spending a day with Michal as he is truly an excellent guide who obviously enjoys what he does. This was a great experience thanks to his efforts and knowledge.
This trip rates in our Top 5 of the many we have done all around Europe. Michal was a fantastic guide and host and really made the experience a memorable one. His knowledge and cultural understanding far exceeded our expectations and he genuinely was interested in sharing all of it with us. In addition, he took the time to get to know us and provided lively and engaging conversation throughout our day. I would highly recommend visiting Prague with Michal and participating in any of the tours he offers. It was a wonderful day for our entire family!
This tour was the private one. Michael is one of the most great guide in this area. He is the expert on this areas and guided with his deeper knowledge. The experience was over expected one. I went Pilsen and brewery tour but it was not fixed course and we can choose and change some small options. Brewery tour is same quality as others ( I went Heineken, Guinness, Carlsberg, Kirin, Suntry and Sapporo). But we can tasting hazy pilsner ulkel. We can purchase it on your bottle.
HI Miho, thank you very much for your nice review! I'm glad you enjoyed also the Old Town of Pilsen we visited together. It is cool you were able to compare the public tours in so many breweries. It was nice talking to you on the way. Thank you and I wish you to enjoy all your travels! Michal
We had a wonderful day trip out of Prague with Michal. He is amazingly conscientious and knowledgeable. This trip is not to be missed by beer fans! We learned so much about the city of Pilsen and the surrounding area as well. Lunch was delicious, served in a quiet, pleasant courtyard. The Chateau has an interesting history and offers spectacular views for photos. Michal offers a variety of tours and we plan to take another with him when we return next summer.
Joanna, thank you for a great feedback, I really appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed this combination of Pilsner brewery, Pilsen Old Town and chateau on the way. The chateau has lots to offer - Alfons Mucha workshop for 18 years, Templar Knights order and Nazi history. I'm looking forward to see you again next summer :). Michal
