Not to be missed

We loved dressing up in the kimonos and you get to pick your own outfit in colours which suit you. You are allowed to keep the kimono after the ceremony has finished to walk around the local area and take photos which my teenagers were thrilled about. The ceremony itself was educational and we learned the traditions and why they are followed such as why you turn the tea bowl certain directions. Our host was very elegant and spoke excellent English. Group size was maximum of 10 people so small and intimate so you could ask questions. We have had many compliments on the photos we have taken and shared.

Fun experience !

Very fun and informative experience. Our host Mia was very friendly and helped take pictures of us afterwards. I would definitely recommend this activity. They also let you stay with the kimono for the rest of the day!

Incredible

The truth is it was a spectacular experience. After the whole explanation and the ritual of purifying the utensils, we were able to try the matcha and it was incredible. They also lent us the clothes to go out paddling and take pictures.

Wonderful experience for me!

The experience was great! I loved our guide. She was so funny and her name was Wakana. She taught us about the history and she taught us how to make our own Matcha. We also got little sweets that were delicious. Overall I loved it and would go again!

Tea with Wakana Forever

Dōmo arigatō gozaimashita, Wakana! You gave us an unforgettable tea ceremony. You explained the rich history of tea culture in such a memorable way that it came to life. To enter the tea house, a samurai had to bow low, leave his swords behind, and step into a place where peace mattered more than power. Wakana made that history come alive. She explained every detail with such warmth, humor, and passion that I wasn’t just listening, I was transported. Watching her whisk the matcha into a vibrant green froth and present it with such precise, graceful movements was mesmerizing. Every gesture, from the careful turn of the bowl to the elegant placement of the ladle, felt intentional. I truly felt like royalty. I even left confident I could make a frothy matcha with a proper bubble slurp for my own guests! A standing ovation to all the ladies who helped us into our kimonos. They were incredibly patient while I braided and bunned my locs, helped me accessorize, and truly made me feel like a princess. Traveling solo, I especially appreciated that Wakana took beautiful photos of me on the patio so I’d have lasting memories of such a special day. Her lighthearted humor and warm personality made the room feel so welcoming. This experience will stay with me for a very long time, and anyone who asks me what they should do in Japan will hear one answer from me: Kimono Tea Ceremony MAIKOYA Nishiki.

Wonderful Experience!!!

Such a fun experience, much better than even expected!! Being dressed in a kimono on our first full day in Japan and getting to wear it around Asakusa for several hours after the Tea Ceremony was soooo fun and not expected at all. WE LOVED IT!! A very fun memory. The Tea Ceremony itself was well-explained and interesting. The staff were kind and concerned and moved our seats when I was not able to see well. Over-all a great and fun experience! Well worth the money. DO IT!! A note on location - the place is a little hard to find using Apple Maps, especially if you try to find it the night before after business hours. Never-fear! Leave extra time the next day; they have signs out during business hours that help!

The ancestral Japan that we adore.

This tea ceremony is really, to my taste, a must-do. The person who performs the tea ceremony is really very friendly, very smiling. She creates a very good atmosphere among the participants, and shares the tea ceremony with us with dexterity and precision. I 100% recommend this activity, which allows you to spend a very pleasant moment.
