Descubra el castillo de Bran y las fortificaciones sajonas en una excursión de un día para grupos pequeños desde Brasov. En el siglo XII, los sajones alemanes llegaron a Transilvania desempeñando un papel importante en el desarrollo de poderosos bastiones y fortalezas en toda la región. La influencia de los sajones de Transilvania, también conocidos como Sasi, incrementó considerablemente la economía de la región y comenzó una evolución cultural. El espíritu de los sajones todavía se puede ver hoy en ciudades medievales como Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Medias y Sebes. Pero la huella más impresionante que dejó esta cultura son las iglesias fortificadas esparcidas por toda la región. Salga del centro de Braşov en un automóvil o minivan con aire acondicionado y diríjase hacia el sur hasta el pueblo de Bran (alrededor de 30 minutos en automóvil), ubicado debajo de las montañas Bucegi en la cordillera de los Cárpatos del Sur Visite el castillo de Bran, la fortaleza-palacio de Transilvania del siglo XIV vinculada a la leyenda del Conde Drácula, el vampiro de la novela de Bram Stoker de 1897. Admire el castillo en la cima de una colina con torres altas al acercarse y pague en la entrada (por cuenta propia) para entrar. Pasee por las espeluznantes habitaciones llenas de muebles góticos y armería mientras su guía desentraña los vínculos del castillo con Drácula, provocados por su asociación con Vlad el Empalador. Este brutal noble del siglo XV fue encarcelado en el castillo en 1462 y conocido por empalar enemigos en estacas. Después de haber investigado la leyenda de Drácula, súbase a su minivan o automóvil y regrese a Braşov para continuar la aventura medieval hacia las iglesias fortificadas sajonas alrededor de Brasov: Harman y Prejmer.

La iglesia de Prejmer, una de las iglesias fortificadas (incluidas en la lista de la UNESCO) mejor conservadas de Europa del Este, se construyó en forma de cruz latina en estilo gótico. Construido en 1427 para resistir los ataques de los otomanos. Los muros tienen 14 metros de altura y 5 metros de espesor. Se puede acceder a esta enorme fortaleza a través de un túnel de 5 metros de espesor.
La iglesia de Harman es una basílica romana con elementos góticos. La torre oeste, las capillas y el foso de agua aún mantienen esta época en la actualidad. En su interior se pueden encontrar pinturas que datan del siglo XIII.

I booked an 8:00 am tour which turned out to be the best decision. They said it was small groups and it turned out to be me and my guide Tudor. They said it visit to Bran Castle was amazing. We were the first people in and it was so uncrowded. Really enjoyed the experience. Highlight of my trip and hats off to Tudor.

Hello We are a couple visiting Romania from Chicago. We had a fantastic tour with Dan to Bran, Prejmer and Harman. Prejmer and Harman are fortified churches which are truly amazing. More interesting and authentic than castles. We highly recommend this tour!

Very happy with the tour and my guide Tiberiu. I was the only one on this tour today which was a nice surprise. Castle Bran felt a little sanitised and Disneyish but that is my fault for not researching and expecting a monument to impalements and Transylvanian wilderness. The Saxon fortified churches were amazing, I've never seen anything like them and probably never will again, wonderfully preserved pieces of cultural heritage. While Castle Bran was quite busy these churches were almost deserted. Tiberiu provided a great deal of information and had the patience and knowledge to answer all 1000 of my questions. This is the only tour I splurged on in 10 weeks backpacking Europe and it was money well spent.

Excellent tour, Tiber full of good information (and humour). Got us to Bran early ahead of the crowds, and the castle was really interesting, but we enjoyed even more the two fortified churches, which were completely fascinating (and almost deserted). Prejmer has one of the most beautiful (very plain) churches I’ve seen, and at Harmanthe tiny chapel with its 15th century frescoes was a delight. So thank you Acrive Travel, highly recommended!

This tour was a fascinating look into the history of Transylvania from royalty to rural people. I was expecting it to be mainly about Dracula, but that was just a small part of it. Charlie was the best guide possible from the moment he picked me up from my hotel to when he dropped me back in Brasov to sample Sarmal (stuffed cabbage - traditional Romanian dish). Charlie was so knowledgeable about everything from history to literature to politics and was happy to answer any of my questions. He was also funny and the day went very quickly. I took the tour with Tudor, which was an excellent tour guide, Not only did he provide me with info about the history of both Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress, but also he taught me a lot about Rumanian history and culture. It was a pleasure to do this tour, he is a young intelligent guy, he knows a lot about history and is so passionate about his culture and his job.
