La ceremonia de Sema representa el viaje místico del ascenso espiritual del hombre a través del amor y su búsqueda de la verdad y la perfección. Se cree que una vez que el hombre ha regresado de su viaje espiritual, puede amar y servir a todas las criaturas que lo rodean. Esta noche, tienes la oportunidad de experimentar una auténtica ceremonia de Capadocia y presenciar un antiguo ritual turco. Será recogido de su alojamiento en Capadocia y transportado por transporte de lujo con aire acondicionado a las caravasares (lugares de caravanas). Estas moradas se construyeron cuando el comercio en Turquía en la época medieval de Seljuk dependía de los trenes de camellos. Los edificios proporcionaron alojamiento a los comerciantes y establos para sus animales. Hoy estas estructuras antiguas son el sitio de The Sema. La ceremonia dura una hora y durante este tiempo su amigable y profesional guía de habla inglesa lo guiará durante la ceremonia y le presentará Serbet, una libación religiosa tradicional.

There was a combination of folk dancers and a meal. The food wasn’t particularly good - but that was okay. The dancers were good, and that was fun. But the dancers were pushy for extra money, and after the first few tips, reduced our enjoyment

The whirling dervish show is advertised on Viator as being at a caravanserai. However, it is actually in the basement of a hotel. Also, there was a problem with the transportation to the event with the driver, insisting that we had not paid for a hotel pick up. However, the dance itself was very moving and a very interesting cultural experience.

We chose to go by ourselves. The communication came shortly after our reservation and everything was smooth. We ran a bit late to the venue but got in without any issues. The performance (more like a ceremony) was tranquil and sacred. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to experience sema.

The dance is basically only twirling and walking as slow as humanly possible. It really is a 10 minute experience drawn out to one hour.
