I totally enjoyed this bike tour. My guide, Yahaira, was amazing and fun to be with. By the end of the day I felt like a made a new friend with Yahaira. She lived locally and knew the area inside and out. She was very authentic and kind. I felt safe with her leading the bike ride. I enjoyed seeing the outskirts of Antigua and going places I hadn't been. The churches that we saw were beautiful especially the oldest church that no one knows who built it. The stop at the chocolate factory was really fun. I tasted an orange flavored hot chocolate that was simply delicious. Of course a had to buy a sleeve of these hot chocolate disks. The only reason I gave the trip a 4/5 was because it was more uphill than I thought it was going to be. After getting through the city, we started to travel uphill. At first it was a gradual uphill. But then we got to a majorly steep section of roadway. It was probably the steepest road I have ever biked up. I personally enjoyed the challenge, but I imagine that most people would have to walk this part of the trip. However, the ride back down at the end was very fun. I would totally recommend this trip if you are okay with some gently uphill and then a major uphill. When I go back to Antigua, I will definitely go on another trip with Old Town Outfitters and request Yahaira to be the guide.
The tour was fantastic and bikes were high quality mountain bikes, essential for cobblestone streets. It is a great way to see Antigua and surrounding towns. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Every time was saw a packed tour bus go by we thought how lucky we were to be out on bikes. Stops were well scheduled giving us rest and detailed history and the chocolate and macadamia tours were quick and interesting. We covered a lot of ground and felt like we saw and learned about local culture. Recommend very highly.
I went with Vini on this bike tour. I always do bike tours when traveling and this was my very favorite. This is an absolute must do. Vini is an incredible guide! Plus, I loved that all the stops were all just the right length- sometimes stops have too much information. The chocolate sampling, macadamia nut farm, and textiles were all amazing and good breaks from the ride!
A great day with two exceptional guides. Daniel and Willy…. exploring the local villages by bike…. Fun and fascinating to see places ‘off the beaten track’… Thanks guys….
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear you had such a great day with Daniel and Willy exploring the local villages. Getting off the beaten track is one of our favorite ways to show the real heart of Guatemala, and it makes us so happy to know you enjoyed it too. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to the guides — they’ll be delighted! We hope to have you back for another adventure soon. 🚴♂️✨
It was a great way to see a different view kf the areas in and around Antigua including church ruins a macadamia plantation (and chocolate and níspero and other local liqueurs) and get a lot of exercise. Bring a small backpack for extra water and any souvenirs tiu may purchase. Not for the faint of heart since there is traffic in some parts (but that’s actually a fun part of the experience for me) and tiu really si need to be in shape as there are some significant hills. I loved it!! My guide Vinny was great. I did the tour in Spanish but one can also do so in English
Hi Richard, Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed exploring Antigua’s surroundings — from the church ruins to the macadamia plantation, chocolate, and local liqueurs. It sounds like you really embraced the adventure! We appreciate your helpful tips for future guests about water, souvenirs, and those fun hills. 😊 Vinny will be so happy to hear your kind words; he truly loves sharing these experiences in both Spanish and English. We hope to welcome you back for more adventures whenever you’re in Guatemala again! 🚴♂️
The bike tour was a great way to see the surrounding towns of Antigua that you likely otherwise wouldn’t see. While we enjoyed the tour, we felt like the last stop at the macadamia farm wasn’t needed. And one thing we wished we had known was how much of the tour was going to take place on cobblestone paths. It was more than anticipated and wore us down after the first few hours. Otherwise, a nice tour! Don’t forget your sunscreen!
Superb Agency to carry out activities in Antigua. We did 2 activities with them (bike tour in the villages next to Antigua and the Pacaya volcano) and it was always super well organized, very competent and friendly guides, and in addition to small groups. We can only recommend this agency.
We really enjoyed our ride around Antigua valley and Ciudad Vieja. From other reviews, it sounds like this route may vary by tour. It was advertised as Beginner, and I would say that was accurate. Our route was mostly flat or downhill with one difficult climb (which we walked most of the way up). We stopped at a chocolate workshop, a fruit wine workshop, and a jade workshop where we got a little "tour" of the process and a chance to shop their products. The ride itself was a great way to visit some of these smaller downtowns outside Antigua. We were also lucky to also see the Lenten "carpets" that are made of sawdust and flowers in the street each Sunday of Lent before the Jesus and Mary are led through the towns. What a beautiful experience!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your ride through Antigua Valley and Ciudad Vieja. It’s great to know that the route felt just right for a beginner ride and that you had the chance to explore the local chocolate, fruit wine, and jade workshops—those stops really add a special touch to the journey! Experiencing the Lenten carpets firsthand must have been incredible. It’s such a unique and beautiful tradition, and we’re so glad you got to witness it during your ride. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, and we hope to see you on another adventure soon! Best, Sebastian
Save room in your daypack to make purchases at the chocolate, wine and coffee stops. Great way to see the areas surrounding Antigua.

Thank you so much to Old Town Outfitters for organizing an absolutely incredible 10-day journey through Guatemala for our family! From start to finish, the planning and execution were nothing short of flawless. Matt thoughtfully arranged every detail of our itinerary, including nice hotels, reliable transportation with trusted drivers, and guided activities that left us in awe. The highlight for us was the 4-day mountain biking adventure through the stunning Guatemalan outbacks. A special shoutout to Pepian & the Old Town Outfitters team, who guided us from our first day volcano excursion, to our unforgettable mountain biking trip and stayed connected with us for the remainder of our trip. Their professionalism, care, and attention to detail were exceptional. Whether it was picking us up promptly at our hotel, anticipating our needs, helping us navigate challenges on the biking trails, or staying connected via WhatsApp throughout our stay, Pepian & the team truly went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. This trip was easily one of the most memorable family adventures we’ve ever had, and we are deeply grateful to Old Town Outfitters for delivering an extraordinary experience!
