This was my first experience on my first day in Tokyo and it couldn't have been better--seriously incredible. Tomo was my guide and she was amazing! She taught me lots about shrines and how to follow the rules expected and took her time to answer my questions. She took pictures on my phone of me and was so friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend this enough, especially if it's your first time in Japan. The only thing I would say is to make sure you leave early so that if you get mixed up getting there you aren't late and if you go in the summer like I did definitely bring water!
Hi Jaely, I’m so happy to hear your first morning in Tokyo was such a great one! Tomo told me how much she enjoyed spending time with you. Meiji Shrine is a special place to start any visit, and I'm glad she could help make it memorable. Thanks again for joining and sharing your thoughts!
It was over six months ago, but I joined as part of my university research. The tours are usually conducted in English, but since I was the only participant this time, the guide kindly gave the tour in Japanese. The pace of the conversation and walking was just right, and I learned a lot of new information I didn’t know before. I was really satisfied with the experience.
Thank you so much for joining and for sharing your thoughtful message! I’m really happy we could support your university research and make it a comfortable and meaningful time. It was a pleasure sharing new stories with you. Wishing you all the best in your studies! 📚🌿
Guide Atsushi was very friendly. Explained a lot about the shrine and brought us to a local coffee place after. Also provided some nice recommendations of other places to check out in the city, including some that I never would have found on my own.
Thank you so much, Ashley! We’re so happy you enjoyed the time with Atsushi at Meiji Shrine and the local coffee spot. He loved sharing hidden gems with you—glad you got to see a different side of Tokyo. Come back anytime!
I would highly recommend this if you are in Tokyo/Japan for the first time. This tour is a great introduction to Tokyo, Japanese culture, and Shintoism. We both had a great time with our tour guide Midori. She is very knowledgeable and patient. She answered all our questions during the experience. Plus, she is a great photographer. We got so many incredible pictures. The price was quite reasonable, and the timing was perfect. As the tour started in the morning, we had a lot of time to explore nearby areas after the tour in Shibuya. We also went to a park nearby and had some traditional Japanese snacks, which Midori brought for everyone under the Sakura tree. Perfect ending!
Thank you so much for the heartfelt review! We're so happy you enjoyed the morning at Meiji Shrine and the time with Midori. She's thrilled you appreciated the stories, the photos, and the Sakura moment with snacks. We hope to welcome you again soon!
It is worth getting up early and avoiding the crowds (especially in Sakura season). Midori was a wonderful guide and provided us with lots of information. We were lucky to see blessing of a archery team by a priest an a wedding. Instead of the brunch we went to the park for hanami (picnic under cherryblossom tree) which was wonderful. Very recommended.
Thank you so much! We're thrilled you enjoyed the peaceful early morning with Midori at Meiji Shrine, especially during the Sakura season. Witnessing the blessing and wedding must have felt magical—and the hanami picnic made it all the more special 🌸
Amazing tour and Tomo was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide. She also gave us many ideas and suggestions for other things to do in Tokyo. Highly recommended!
Thank you so much! We're thrilled you enjoyed your time with Tomo. She loved sharing Meiji Shrine with you and offering tips for the rest of your Tokyo adventure. Come back anytime—we’d love to welcome you again!
This was a great introduction to my first full day in Tokyo! Highly recommend. Tomoko-San was a great guide and helped me understand Meiji shrine and Japanese culture much more than if I’d went by myself. She also took us to a great brunch spot and provided lots of recommendations. Arigato Gozaimasu!
Thank you so much, Johnny! We're happy your first full day in Tokyo began with a meaningful visit to Meiji Shrine. Tomoko-san truly enjoyed guiding you and sharing local tips (and that tasty brunch spot!). Arigato for joining us!
My host Midori is very knowleagable and kind. I had a private tour though it was not planned. Pictures of the location before it was built and during the process were included which add to appreciating the beautiful area. Midori also had a nice recommendation for an early snack and was willing to help direct me at the end of our meeting. Would love to meet again in the future.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re glad you had such a meaningful time with Midori—she truly enjoyed sharing the history of Meiji Shrine and offering local tips. She hopes to see you again in Tokyo one day!
