Top marks for our guide Ray, there’s certainly nothing I don’t know about huskies now!. So knowledgeable- if you’re a doggy person like me you’ll love this. We were charged with an 8 month old pup on the hike and it was a real treat so see these dogs in action (and feel their strength). Was lovely to spend time at the end of the hike with all the huskies who enjoyed the cuddles and fussing given out by all the group.
Well-organised and friendly company. The dogs were well-cared for, and the hike was beautiful. We were hiking with the dogs for a long time, and also got to pet all the other dogs. There was also some drinks and snacks around a bonfire. They even had vegan snacks for me.
Went on a tour led by Roy, and it was absolutely worth it! Being a solo traveler, I got my own dog to hike with, but every group got their assigned husky that they traded throughout the hike. The hike wasn't too difficult, but enough that it felt like a workout. There was a stop along the way for coffee and tea, and cake was offered after. All of the animals seemed well cared for and genuinely interested in the hike, and all of the staff seemed quite knowledgeable about each individual dog. They were super receptive to concerns of the level of the hike, and made sure it was a good experience for everyone. Boots and snow suits were offered upon arrival, followed by an introduction of how to safely use snowshoes, and meeting the dogs. There was also time after the hike to go to the dog yard. Amazing views too!
Exceptional morning showshoe hike whilst walking husky puppies. In groups of 4 we took turns walking the teenage huskies through the wilderness. The hike lasted a few hours with stops along the way for drinks, cookies and husky cuddles. When we returned to the camp we had plenty of time to meet all of the huskies (around 100 of them) and stroke them as much as we wanted. The dogs were so happy and well behaved and clearly looked after brilliantly. Our guides Armyen and Lily were very welcoming and helpful all day.
This was really a wonderful experience. At first I was not too excited because im not a dog person but I fell in love with them as soon as I started walking with them. The weather was good which played a vital part. The guides were wonderful people, and were very friendly. My wife was slow and was running behind and they made sure someone was with her the whole time and even helped her with her walk. Really worth it.
Best experience we had all weekend and we did a lot! So special to walk with the huskies and see the icy landscape. The gear provided was very warm and comfortable even though it was -15c. I felt it was a better experience than sledding because it we got to walk through the snow. Great fun. Thanks!
Pretty fun experience! It was nice walking the huskies and experiencing snowshoeing for the first time!
This was an adorable experience! We booked the morning snow shoe hike which was accompanied by teenage huskies! We popped our snow shoes on and got straight into the hike which was over beautiful snowy hills above Tromso with amazing views down over the fjord and of the snowy hilltops. We stopped halfway for a tea break; we were offered hot squash, tea, and homemade cookies. All delicious! I got my turn to walk one of the young huskies, Superman, on our way back. We then got to snuggle next to a fire and have more hot drinks and cake. After that we then had an opportunity to meet the other dogs which was lovely! One of our guides, Clementine, even came round and pointed out her favourites and was very friendly. It was a really great experience and well worth a visit! The only thing I would add is that you definitely need to be ready for a workout, pulling young energetic huskies is no joke!
Fun activity, well organised, attentive and professional team. Enjoyed snowshowing and with the additional company of beautiful and lovable dogs!
great experience, we all got in a coach for a 30 minute ride to tromso wilderness centre (located on a island) then we were given waterproofs and boots ( which i would recommend) as it was snowy and sleeting during the walk, we were also asked is we would like to take the huskies out for a walk ( 2 adults and 2 puppies) and we took turns in walking the dogs attached by a leash to a waist harness, strong dogs, we stopped after 45 minutes in a sheltered area to have hot drinks and cake and then walked back to the centre, we were given a tour of the kennels and introduced to younger puppies of 4 months . we were given more hot drinks and cake in the small circular hut whilst we warmed up. the passion of the guides towards the dogs well-being was impressive. strongly recommended and this centre has been around for ? 30 -40 years
