I had an amazing experience doing the 3D2N jungle trek! Our guides, Dani and Roji, were fantastic – incredibly knowledgeable about the jungle, friendly, and fun. Thanks to their expertise we were lucky enough to see orangutans, siamangs and plenty of other amazing wildlife. A huge thank you as well to Chef Bahar, who cooked us delicious, varied meals in the middle of the jungle. The whole team created such a fun atmosphere and made the trek unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend this experience more highly.
An unforgettable experience that is difficult to describe in words. Spending several days in the Sumatra jungle is something that is not within everyone's reach and, without a doubt, it is one of those experiences that stays with you forever. Having the opportunity to see orangutans and other wild animals in their natural habitat, completely free, while traversing one of the most impressive jungles in the world, is simply incredible. Beyond the wildlife and the beauty of the jungle, we want to highlight the work of the guides and the team. They were spectacular from the very first moment: always attentive, helping us with everything we needed, taking care of us throughout the journey, and ensuring that we enjoyed the experience to the fullest. Additionally, the food during the trekking was excellent and we never lacked for anything. It has been an incredible experience both in terms of adventure and on a personal level. It is tough at times, with heat, humidity, and mud, but that is precisely what makes it even more authentic and special. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience a true adventure and discover the real beauty of the Sumatra jungle.
The jungle trek was lovely! Got to learn a lot about the plants and animals with kamel who knows so much about the jungle and is so kind and checks in! Lots of yummy fruit and a good amount of trekking but lots of time to hang out by the river and get to know the jungle. Zumba at either guide and semban are porter were also awesome!! As someone who loves the outdoors and does lots of comping this felt so lovely and nourishing 😊
Excellent guides through the jungle Kian and Rogi.
Wonderful experience with Ian and Rogi, two excellent guides who dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to making our stay in the jungle unforgettable. Special shoutout to the two dinners that lived up to the experience.
Local, professional, safe, fantastic food, and friendly! We took a 3-day/2-night tour from June 4-6, 2026, with Explore Sumatra's Wonder, and it was FANTASTIC😍! We saw many different wild jungle animals, including 10 orangutans (including a baby), pig-tailed and long-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, Indonesian peacocks, hornbills, kingfishers, many different butterflies, and giant ants. Fernando, Bima, and a third young assistant (unfortunately, I forgot his name) guided us safely through the jungle and always beautifully decorated the food with flowers. Fernando has consistently encouraged both assistants to take over the explanations about the animals and plants so that they can learn. Of course, he has also always supported and supplemented them with his knowledge whenever something was missing. Mr. Smile has cooked fantastically for us. In the end, we took the jungle taxi (rafting) back down the river to the village. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who accompanied us on our tour, as well as to the excellent cooks at the Wonders Lodge. We have not eaten anywhere as well as we did with you on our one-month journey through Indonesia! I will come back, see you soon!
I cannot recommend this trip enough. Everything was perfect. I was picked up from the airport and taken directly to my accommodation. I was told what to take and helped to pack. The trekking was incredible and the accommodation was way better than I had expected. Our tour guide Bim and Lemon were incredible and so funny and made the experience the best it could be. We saw so much wildlife including 8 orangutans. I did 4D3N which was perfect for me.
The jungle excursion with our guides Kian and Bima from "Explore Sumatra Wonder" was a fantastic experience! Right at the start of our first day in the jungle, we saw several orangutans. Kian answered all our questions about the monkey species living there, as well as about the native plants and his life in Sumatra in general. In the jungle, we saw not only orangutans, but also pig-tailed macaques, black gibbons, and Thomas's leaf monkeys. It was simply a unique experience to be able to admire these animals in their natural habitat. In the evening, our hiking group enjoyed long conversations over a delicious dinner (which also offered plenty of vegetarian options). We spent the night safely protected under a mosquito net. The second day in the jungle began with some ascents and descents, but these were manageable for everyone thanks to the breaks taken after each climb. To end the day, we enjoyed a refreshing rafting trip with the jungle taxi, which was very welcome in the humid heat of the jungle. Overall, we were extremely happy with the organization and execution of the tour and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an introduction to a jungle adventure.
This was an amazing experience! We saw many orangutan, monkeys, hornbill and more. Our guides were loads of fun and we felt very safe and supported. The food was delicious and lots of it. We had lots of time to relax and find out peace in the jungle. We had lots of laughs and were very lucky to have a lovely group to be with. 5 guests in total. On the way home we got the jungle taxi back to the village which was very fun. We were greeted back at our accommodation with delicious ice tea. No request was too hard. From start to finish this was a fantastic experience. Some fitness is recommended as the hiking can be tough.
This was such a special experience. We saw lots of Orangutan, a Hornbill bird, cheeky monkeys, pigtail monkeys, and funky monkeys! The food was amazing and we never went hungry. What really made this trip unforgettable was our guides and the team who took care of us. We were constantly laughing, our every need was met, we played games, sung songs and they taught us so much about the jungle. They were also very generous with our airport pick up and drop offs to Medan, even driving us in the middle of the night! Thank you so much for making our first trip to Indonesia so special. I hope one day I can come back and spend more time with the cheeky guides in the jungle 🦧🐅🍃
