Visite la Fortaleza de Poienari, el verdadero Castillo Residencial de Vlad Tepes y conduzca por la autopista Transfagarasan, construida como una ruta militar estratégica, es la segunda carretera asfaltada más alta de Rumania y considerada por algunos como la más dramática. Conducir por la autopista Transfagarasan como se conoce como "el Camino al Cielo", "el Camino a las Nubes", "la Mejor Ruta de Conducción del Mundo" e incluso "Un espectacular Monumento a la Megalomanía que mueve la Tierra"! IMPORTANTE: !!!Debido a algunas obras de construcción en la carretera, el recorrido podría tardar más de lo habitual!!! ¡La carretera transfagarasana está abierta en 2024 entre el 7 de junio y el 31 de octubre! Cuando la carretera Transfagarasan está cerrada (1 de noviembre - 30 de junio) nos dirigimos a la cascada Balea (sin visita de la fortaleza de Poienari y la presa de Vidradu). Si las condiciones meteorológicas lo permiten, tomamos el teleférico hasta el lago Balea (20 euros extra por persona). Visitamos las ruinas de la Abadía Cisterciense de Carta y el increíble Monasterio de Sambata de Sus.

¡¡¡Debido a algunas obras en la carretera, el recorrido podría tardar más de lo habitual!!! Conducir por la autopista Transfagarasan, conocida como "el camino hacia el cielo", "el camino hacia las nubes", "la mejor carretera para conducir del mundo" e incluso "un espectacular monumento a la megalomanía que mueve la tierra". IMPORTANTE: ¡La carretera Transfagarasan está abierta del 1 de julio al 31 de octubre! Cuando la carretera Transfagarasan esté cerrada (del 1 de noviembre al 30 de junio), nos dirigiremos hasta la cascada Balea (no visitaremos la fortaleza Poienari ni la presa Vidradu). Si las condiciones meteorológicas lo permiten, cogeremos el teleférico hasta el lago Balea (aprox. 20 euros extra/persona, incluye también el billete del teleférico para el guía). Visitamos también las ruinas de la Abadía Cisterciense de Carta y el impresionante Monasterio de Sambata de Sus.
Caminamos a la cascada de Balea, la cascada más alta de Rumania, con más de 60 metros de altura.
Balea Lac es un lago glaciar natural a 2040m, 360 metros de largo, 240 metros de ancho y 11 metros de profundidad.
Fue terminado en 1966 en el río Argeș y crea el lago Vidraru. La presa del arco fue construida con el propósito principal de producir hidroelectricidad. La altura de la presa es de 166 metros, la longitud del arco de 305 metros y puede almacenar 465 millones de metros cúbicos de agua. El embalse tiene una longitud total de la costa (perímetro) de 28 km.
Visite la fortaleza de Poienari, el verdadero castillo residencial de Vlad Tepes. El acceso a la ciudadela de Poienari se realiza subiendo las 1.480 escaleras de hormigón. La fortaleza de Poienari está cerrada hasta nuevo aviso.

Our guide picked us up and we were on our way. We made several stops along the way and learned a great deal of history. The road was windy and twisty….everything we thought it would be. If you get Marius as your guide, you can’t go wrong!!

The experience was amazing! The views, the atmosphere are cost every coin. It’s a bit long trip so you have to be prepared for this. Guide was very kind, made all stops and helped with everything. This is the best option if you want to visit Poenari and see the beauty of the Transfagarashan

On the 31st of July 2025, we visited the Bâlea lake waterfalls, the Bâlea Lake, the Vidraru dam… We then rode on the Transfăgărășan road, saw some bears, and went up to visit the Poenari fortress. The trip with Dan was awesome. He was very friendly and helpful. We were only us 2, my boyfriend Julien and me, and our guide, Dan. He respected our pace and let us discover by ourselves. He simply helped us keep track of the time and drove us around. We had some good discussions and information from him. I appreciated how grounded he was, he talked about the positive and the negative points also which was very rewarding. He was flexible for the pick-up and drop-off point as we were only 2. After this trip which took us all day, we already considered Dan as a friend. We loved everything about this tour and we really loved our guide !

Fantastic trip and highly recommend this trip. I travelled alone. Dan, my guide and driver was superb. Collected me on time from my hotel. Safe, professional guide and driver. Conversed well along the way and entertained me with his fabulous singing. Dan bought fresh bread just before we left Braşov and he shared his homemade lunch with me. It’s a long day and I was tired at the end of the day, but Dan remained energetic and motivated. Definitely a very worthwhile trip to make. The highlight of my trip to Romania.

We have seen a lot of things in only one day, lake at 2000 meters about sea level, waterfall, 3 wild bears, a hidroeléctric plant, a monastery and churches, many mountain villages. The guide knows very well the country, and told us a lot about history, politics, religion etc. Nice experience

The fortress was closed. Some roads were under repair resulting in missing some sight seeing spots. The guide did his best to offer substitutes. Viator should have informed customers on these changes. We would have reconsidered the tour had we been info of these problems.

Dan was an excellent tour guid ! Enjoyed his knowledge of the country very much! The bears on the Transfagarasan Road was fantastic! The bears , the waterfalls and all the stops on the way were amazing! I call him Dan the singing tour man ❤️ He has a fabulous voice and we sang many songs! I would definitely recommend him !!!

Views were amazing, we didn't get to see the views from the top as it was foggy but no one can control the weather, views on way down made up for it, loved seeing a couple of bears as an extra. Guide very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to approach. Went back to book a different tour as first one was so amazing.

The tour hosted by Charlie was absolutely amazing! He is a very experienced and friendly guide for the spots we visited and we feel very safe to ride with him. Charlie speaks very well English although we try to speak some basic greetings in Romanian. He is a very fun guy and we really like chatting with him en route. We saw bears along the highway that we all very excited but please remember to respect the nature and wildlife by not feeding and disturbing them. I give it 10/10 if I have to rate the whole trip.
