"El mayor regalo que un colombiano ha dado a su país". Estas son las palabras de un periódico local cuando Botero donó una magnífica colección de arte al Banco de la República. La colección está compuesta por obras de Botero y otros artistas de renombre. Fernando Botero es un artista colombiano que ha conquistado al mundo con sus famosos personajes proporcionalmente exagerados que sugieren un elemento de crítica política y un refinado sentido del humor. Botero es un artista figurativo y escultor de Medellín, Colombia. Es conocido por su estilo único, también llamado "Boterismo" por algunos. Él se considera como uno de los artistas vivos más reconocidos que viven en América Latina, por lo que es el artista colombiano más aclamado. Expuso su obras por primera vez en 1948 y se convirtió en una eminencia en 1958 cuando ganó un premio en el Salón de Artistas Colombianos. Desde 1966 hasta 1975, él dividió su tiempo entre Europa, Nueva York y Colombia.

I am a big fan of Botero so I was pleased to be able to admire so many paintings and sculptures in one place and few visitors as bonuses in a beautiful old house in Spanish style.A visit not to be missed.I will soon go to Medellín and will be able to admire other sculptures on display in a beautiful park there.Like the other hand.

Free entry museum. It is the house of one of the most beautiful paintings collection. We have visited with our kid who was amused by the forms and shapes. From the Botero museum you can go to the next museums(free) just walking in.

Located in a monastery like setting is a museum purchased by BOTERO and donated to the city of Bogota and filled with the artist’s personal art collection and his monumental works! I think it is free ! The art includes Picasso and impressionists plus Boteros paintings and monumental sculptures! A MUST VISIT IN BOGOTA
Clean spaces, all very organized, keep the value of the paintings! I learned a lot here, I love paintings and their meanings!!!
This museum is free. Besides the artist’s own works (of which I’m not a fan), there’s part of his personal collection and that’s great. For once, no crowds in front of the Mona Lisa... but it's Botero's...
An extraordinary library! Of course there are all aspects of Botero's talent, although there are few monumental sculptures. But there are also major works by Picasso, Dali, Moore, Giacometti, Caillebotte, Delvaux and many others. The lighting is perfect, the presentation very successful. A great moment!

To be honest, Botero's work wasn't one of my favorites. I arrived at the Museum almost by chance and I must say that I found it a truly fascinating experience, not only for the quality of the exhibition but for the level of the works and the collection. It really is an unmissable of the vast cultural offer that Colombia has to surprise! During the week the Expo has a minimum admission fee, however on Sunday admission is free.
