Construido a principios del siglo XX en honor al cultivo de té chino e importado en Brasil, el monumento de Vista Chinesa ofrece un amplio panorama lleno de verde de la zona sur de Río. El sendero tiene fácil acceso y está completamente pavimentado, lo que lleva al mirador en una escalada exigente y empinada, ¡pero vale la pena con uno de los picos más hermosos de la ciudad!
A partir de 1856, el Jardín Botánico se conectó a Alto de Boa Vista por un camino en voladizo, abierto por la influencia del barón de Bom Retiro y cuya ejecución y mantenimiento se contrató con Thomas Cochrane. Registra la crónica de la época en la que, en este trabajo, los trabajadores fueron empleados "cules" traídos de China (Macao) para desarrollar el cultivo de arroz, pero que, al no demostrar su capacidad para la agricultura, se utilizaron para construir el camino. Esta región presenta una sorprendente coincidencia de la presencia china, que comenzó con la llegada de los plantadores de té de D. João VI. Tras el fracaso de este cultivo, según Brasil Gerson, los chinos se habrían extendido "a través de los pañales de Tijuca". En 1844, un mapa del área registra un edificio llamado "Casa dos Chinas", probablemente un remanente de esta experiencia primitiva. Esta "vocación" probablemente explica por qué el Ayuntamiento (la alcaldesa Pereira Passos, en 1903, con un proyecto del arquitecto Luis Rey, en el mortero copiando el bambú) construyó un pabellón llamado "Vista Chinesa", unos años más tarde, que aún puede ser visitado Arriba, un lugar preparado para servir como un lugar de descanso en los paseos frecuentes de la Familia Real ganó el nombre de Mesa del Emperador.
En 1860, el gobierno imperial encargó al ingeniero Job de Alcântara la construcción del hermoso puente de piedra, en formato de arco romano, que se encuentra frente al Taunay Cascatinha. La cascada PNT más alta está formada por la caída de las aguas del río Tijuca, el río Conde y otros afluentes. En 1817, el artista Nicolas Antoine Taunay construyó una pequeña casa cerca de la cascatinha y, encantada, inmortalizó la belleza de la cascada en sus cuadros. Se convirtió en el gran anfitrión del bosque, organizando reuniones para la corte. La casa de Taunay fue demolida en 1946. En el sitio, se construyó el antiguo restaurante Cascatinha, que actualmente se está preparando y remodelando para albergar una cafetería y un nuevo restaurante.
Parque Lage está ubicado en el barrio Jardim Botânico, en el sur de Río de Janeiro, cerca de atracciones como el Jardim Botânico y el Cristo Redentor. Con un área de 52 hectáreas de bosques, el espacio está rodeado por la Mata Atlántica y es parte del Parque Nacional Tijuca.

The tour Tijuca Forest we visit the National Tijuca Forest by jeep, vista Chinese and Cascatinha Taunay Waterfall the guide Rafael Robaina very knowledgeable of history and driver Euclides the best driver even up and down those curves road was amazing outstanding and very knowledgeable of history and safe was first doing this trip. I highly recommend this tour. Just we had time to drip in water but weather was so good to take a drip. But tour was amazing. The church areas is higher than the Sugarloaf point. We Love it.
There is no zero stars allowed. We have used Viator a lot across the world and this is the first time that the tour operator did not turn up, message us or acknowledge our messages. I hope that all is well but my advice is simple - DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR OR USE THIS OPERATOR! This spoilt our last day in Rio.
First all I am sorry for this inconvinience. I never had this problem in 10 years of work. I believe you have booked the tour for all 5 stars reviews you have read. Unfornatelly I had a problem with our google calendar that have changed your tour for other date, instead of the right one. It never happened before and We made changes in our system working now with two calendars. it is important mention that after explain you what happened by message we fastly have Refunded your money back. The tour was great. First a trip to Palácio - Parque Lage. Great place for photos with Christ the redeemer on the mountain behind. Then on to Tijuca Forest. Great waterfalls and wildlife. Best of all Ederson was great guide. Engaging and enthusiastic. He had great knowledge of the area and history. He was brilliant at ensuring we got the most from the tour and keen to notice what we were interested in and adapt to our needs. Would highly recommend Ederson - he made the tour great.

Great tour, Ederson made sure to show us all the parts of the rainforest and made sure we were comfortable! We got to see an extra waterfall that wasn’t on the original list. Highly recommend!

So move on! When I see the other comments they must have gone through an excellent guide because we saw nothing of what the others showed in the comments. We saw a waterfall and a view and were shown around a dilapidated building that supposedly is a museum. Don't waste your time!
My husband and I loved this 1/2 day tour. He was so knowledgeable and let us spend as much time as we wanted at each spot thru the Tijuca Forest. The highlights were Parque Lage ( he walked us through the awesome forest & had a drink in the gorgeous old mansion) , the Chinese lookout had the most amazing view and we got to watch about 20 monkeys swinging thru the trees, Emperor's lookout, and the Cascatinha waterfall were all so beautiful!! Our tour guide was such a great guy, we had a blast!!! 😊

This was a great trip. Ederson was a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and very pleasant. We visited all the main spots in Tijuca and also went to Parque Lage. Was lucky to see some Toucans as well. Highly recommend this tour and this company.
