Magical Day~

An absolute must! Our tour was truly amazing!!! We saw two orca pods with their young, sea lions, harbor seals, eagle fishing and 3 humpback whales. Magical day only enhanced by the knowledgeable (they provide a cornucopia of vast information about the area, the animals, their habits and who they are), professional and informative crew. Thank you for such a memorable day with our family. KC OHIO, USA ** traveled with adult children early 20’s and they throughly enjoyed the day~

Amazing Wildlife Experience

A big catamaran (80ft) with indoor and outdoor seating. The big boat is better able to handle choppy water. It was great, very smooth. Tables are available inside and we had a place to have lunch - We packed sandwiches, snacks, and beverages. Tour guides were super friendly and very knowledgeable. Fox, Bella, & Jake were very social and inviting . Bella translated in English and Spanish and all three were giving excellent factual information about the wildlife. We chose the 2:30 tour and stayed out about 3-4 hours. We saw 2 orca families traveling together with baby orca pups!!! We saw sea lions and seals, a bald eagle literally catching a fish, and we saw 3 humpback whales. This was an unusual trip to see so much but we lucked out!!! The crew takes amazing pictures as part of your package which came out great. They uploaded the pics the same day!!! Captains Anthony and Luke were on point handling the ship and are very experienced and considerate with how they manage the movement. Just riding on the ship and experiencing the sights and nature on the top deck seats in the sunshine was also extremely enjoyable. We enjoyed the complimentary hot chocolate and took a ton of family and wildlife pics!!! All around absolutely amazing trip!! Bring cash to tip if you have the same/similar experience. My family and I totally felt they deserved a monetary thank you as well as the verbal compliments!!!

Good trip!

Friendly, knowledgeable crew, comfortable boat, and got to see whales! The captain communicated with previous boats to know where to take us straight to the orcas and humpbacks both.

Vancouver Whale Watching Best experience

Amazing whale watching. A lot of explanation on spotting whales types habitats and answering any other question you could have. Spent a lot of time on the water and free photos are a plus I didn’t realized we had when we booked. Special shoutout to Kiefer who kept my husband informed on all to see when he had to be inside for a while.

Two Outings in Three Days with Prince of Whales!

All in all we had a good time on our Prince of Whales half-day tours. Yes, we did 2 in 3 days. Our thinking was that going on an afternoon trip one day; and a morning trip on a second day may get us to see more whales. Didn't pan out that way, but we felt it was our best shot. Because it was peak season (July) I expected to see more whales than we saw. The first trip, an afternoon trip, covered more spots. We'd go to a spot seek and perhaps see whales, and move to another. I liked that. Our second trip was a morning trip, and although it was roughly the same length of time (3.5 hours) we basically covered 2 spots -- one seeking Orca's; and then fairly far away seeking hump backs. On the 2nd trip we saw both but not many of either. I thought we saw more whales by going to more spots on the first trip - although, everything we saw on the first trip was Orca's - and many were very far away. As a photographer, this may give you more perspective of what I'm saying -- on the first trip I shot 1,162 shots (burst mode, naturally). On the 2nd trip I shot 370 shots. There were more opportunities on the first trip, although in most cases the Orca's were very far away. The crews, in both cases, were extremely good. Very informative, friendly, and helpful. The boat holds 95 passengers (I believe) and we were at capacity both trips, so I assume business is good. The trip is expensive but it's a well-organized outing for sure. You just don't know what you're going to see and you have to be ok with that. On the first trip we even went to a spot where many sea lions hang out. Great photos there, and the boat was able to pull up and stay for a bit. As I write this I don't know if I got any bangers (great photos) or not - I'll look at what I shot when I get back to the US this weekend. But, if asked, I'd recommend the trip to anyone who can afford it - who's truly interested in the opportunity to see these beautiful whales in their natural habitat. I've traveled to photograph Eagles and Osprey - and much like photographing whales, you just don't know what you're going to see when you get out there. I had hoped to see more whales - and slightly closer, because of the time of year, but I still enjoyed the trip very much. One thing to consider - if you're going to go out more than once as we did. You don't have to have a camera on these trips. The Prince of Whales team will send you photographs/videos of everything you see on that day -- at no cost. However, by time we got the photos from our first outing, we had already gone on the 2nd outing only to see a discount offered on our "next outing" which we weren't able to use, so paying full price for the second trip could have been cheaper had we gotten those offers faster (after the first outing). All in all we had a good time in Victoria BC and we enjoyed our time with the Prince of Whales team.

Don’t have too high expectations

A long time spent on the boat chasing possible whale sightings Saw in the distance some Orcas and the outline of a grey whale. May have been that day was a slow day or the conditions didn’t suit the whales, but felt is was a bit of a waste of money to sit there for 5 hours and see very little. We understand nature can’t be controlled and expectations need to be realistic, but the rules of the waters mean no getting closer than 200m to Orcas anyway so unless you have a super hi tech camera, not going to see a lot Pictures were provided of what we did see, but again, no wow factor. Chose carefully when booking whale watching.

Definitely Put On Your To-Do List!

This was such an amazing experience! We got to see quite a few whales and we had an amazing and knowledgeable team - especially Jake - who was very thoughtful in making sure we got all out of our experience.

Fun and educational whale...

Fun and educational whale watching with Prince of Whales. We were so fortunate to spot both orcas and a humpback, and even had a mother and “baby” orca surface unexpectedly right in front of our boat. The naturalists were so full of knowledge (special shoutout to Dan) and spread around the boat at various locations so everyone could always be in earshot of one of them. Happy we saw the creatures we did but even without the wildlife, cruising through this scenery is lovely.

Best experience ever

This was absolutely amazing. It was 5 full hours of the most beautiful views and sightings. My group was very lucky in that we were able to encounter a pack of orcas (with a newborn calf!) and a very curious humpback whale (Banya) that popped right by our ship!!! We also saw eagles, harbor seals and sea lions. Our naturalist was Dan and he was great! He knew a lot and was happy whenever we asked a question. I would absolutely recommend this. I would encourage people to actively participate. It makes the experience so much better!
