What a site, wonderful! I recommend this excursion, super interesting walk, and at the end, something to eat. We will gladly do it again
Absolutely worth experiencing. Guide was great and the information she gave us was very good. It is 6 miles walk and a lot of stairs. To get to trail you have to go through a tunnel, and their are hight, not for people scared of heights.
Everything was suitable for walking (parking in a habitable vehicle and weather, easy access to the beginning by bus). Breathtaking site, with a small flat: tedious and uninteresting walking both at the start and at the end! The entire journey is supervised with a helmet that must not be left and some places are forbidden to stop because of a pervasive risk of falling stones.
Eight of us went along the canyon in 1992 before the new walk ways where built.you started at the local railway station walked through the railway tunnel (hoped no train came) and you were in the canyon only one bridge fit to cross then you walked the rotting walk ways roped together for safety , to get back near the end of the canyon onto the railway you had to jump across the broken bridge about 4ft gap. Also did you know they filmed part of Von Ryans Express here with Frank Sinatra, where he chases the train near the end.
Really well organised and safe. Guide was great . Just bear in mind its about 8km long and we got a bus back to parking lot. During summer, make sure a bring water. Highly recommended and bot too much climbing.
We did this tour with Pedro/Pablo from La Garganta Activa (he said we’d forget his name!). A great guide, very welcoming, informative & entertaining. He ensured that my 83 year old father in law made it around the 8km hike with no drama. A spectacular hike, worth every cent, fully recommended.
Great experience and very safe. No need for anxiety. - anyone can join. Super guide who was good at telling stories with humor. Beautiful, beautiful trip with varied scenarios and an exciting story about the place and its history. Great recommendation to try the tour. Wayfinding signage is very lacking. There is a bus every half hour from the large car park by the information centre. The entrance to the tour is in a hole in the rock close to the small parking lot with the €2 sign. The bus also stops here.
Excellent trip to Camino Del Rey with friends. Great experience walking the pathways on this guided walk, which took about two and a half hours. It was a worthwhile, interesting, and exhilarating day, walking pathways around the sides of mouthtains, enjoying views down into valleys, and crossing a foot bridge across a high canyon. We enjoyed looking at nature. We saw interesting plants and wildlife and were told stories about the area by our guide. I would highly recommend this worthwhile visit. We drove from Nerja in our hire car, which took an hour and 20 minutes. Make sure you bring water and wear sturdy trainers.
Became aware and started planning via Instagram. In 2023 we were on site! Have booked a guide through the "Getyourguide" app who picked us up directly from the Hotel Garanta. You start the hike with the bus ride to the entrance at the highest point, the trail, which is very pleasant as we arrived at the end of the hike only 200m from the hotel. The way is safe and was also good for my non-dizzy girlfriend! The impressions were tremendous, how beautiful our world is ...
I went on a guided tour at the beginning of June this year, it's really great and the guide is really good. I feel a little dizzy but it was but for people with a lot of dizziness it is better to walk at the entrance on small roads.
