Antigua es una ciudad colonial declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Sus calles empedradas, iglesias y conventos históricos, como la Catedral de San José y el Convento de las Capuchinas, te transportan al pasado. La ciudad es famosa por su arquitectura colonial bien conservada. El Arco de Santa Catalina y la Iglesia de La Merced son ejemplos icónicos. En este recorrido visitaras la iglesia la Merced en donde, recorrerás la icónica calle del arco, visitaras la Catedral, el parque central con su famosa fuente, podrás aprecia los procesos de elaboración de dos productos muy importantes para los Mayas visitando una fábrica de chocolate y una de jade.
Hobbitenango es un destino único y encantador cerca de Antigua Guatemala que ofrece una experiencia mágica inspirada en el mundo de “El Señor de los Anillos”. Está diseñado para parecerse a una aldea hobbit, con casitas de estilo hobbit, puertas redondas y una atmósfera de fantasía que te transportará a la Tierra Media. Adicionalmente el parque ofrece impresionantes vistas panorámicas del valle y los volcanes cercanos, lo que lo convierte en un lugar perfecto para disfrutar de la naturaleza y tomar fotografías increíbles. It was good. The drive is about 2 and a half hours. It is a long and winding road, so if you get motion sickness, you should take precautions. We had a delicious breakfast with a view of the lake. We got on a small boat; it bounces a lot, so if you have back problems, it is not good for you. We had several exhibitions. And we were able to learn about part of the Mayan culture.
Skip the Antigua tour, was brought to places really to just buy stuff. Felt pressure at the stops we were there for a few minutes and a sale pitch big time.

I scheduled this tour the day before and everything worked out perfectly. Juan picked me up promptly at my hotel in Guatemala City and the ride was wonderful. He was joined by his wife and one other tourist and we even stopped to get coffee on the way to Antigua. Roberto our tour guide did a fantastic job showing us around town. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant serving Guatemalan food and it was absolutely delicious. We had time to see many landmarks in the city with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains. Next time I come to Guatemala I will stay in Antigua because of this tour. Instead of going to Hobbitenango, we went to Altimida and Im so glad we did . The views were stunning and it wasnt crowded at all. Im very happy with this tour and would do it again.

The tour is not done in Spanish and English, they are done only in English, if you do not speak English, you will not understand anything. They also don't take you to all the places they list in the city. The guide asks you about the timetable for going to hobbitenango, but does not specify that you will sacrifice time in Antigua for leaving earlier. Once he gives you your ticket to hobbitenango he leaves and you're on your own. In our case we were there 4 hours and it was too long.

Roberto was incredibly knowledgeable about Guatemala. My daughter and I learned so much during the walking tour—it gave us a deeper appreciation for the people and culture of Guatemala. The Hobbitenango stop felt a bit touristy, with lots of walking and stairs, but we’re so thankful to Roberto for making the entire experience so memorable!
