Itinerario
Comenzaremos el recorrido recogiéndolo en el lobby de su hotel. Nos dirigiremos a Antigua Guatemala, así que siéntese, relájese y disfrute del viaje.
Monasterio más grande de Antigua Guatemala. Ubicada en los terrenos del Monasterio de Santo Domingo, Casa Santo Domingo nació como el pilar de uno de los conventos más importantes de América. Los que habitaban en este santuario seguían la orden de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, y el monasterio les sirvió de refugio. Sus orígenes se remontan a 1538 cuando los primeros dominicos llegaron a Guatemala, y durante este tiempo el monasterio era un gran edificio de dos torres y diez campanas lleno de riquezas y reliquias. Lamentablemente, el monasterio fue parcialmente destruido en el terremoto de Santa Marta de 1773, y lo que aún se conserva se ha convertido en un monumento que conserva la arquitectura barroca y los tesoros de la época. Los muros antiguos, los arcos de ladrillo y los pasillos de azulejos transmiten la historia de la Casa Santo Domingo original, y hoy parte de las ruinas se han convertido en el único hotel de cinco estrellas de Antigua, que abrió sus puertas en 1989.
Mire para ver la ciudad desde arriba. Tenga la oportunidad de ver a algunos pájaros carpinteros rodeados de naturaleza y tomar excelentes fotografías. Este apacible mirador te dará un momento para desconectar de tu rutina diaria. Te encontrarás disfrutando de la vista de Antigua Guatemala y sus 3 volcanes.
Esta es una hermosa iglesia amarilla y el mejor ejemplo de la arquitectura barroca guatemalteca. La iglesia que data del siglo XVIII es una de las más hermosas de Antigua Guatemala. Está rodeado de un hermoso jardín, venta de artesanías y excelentes cafés que ofrecen auténtico café "Antigüeño" (café de Antigua Guatemala) que tiene notas de chocolate debido a su proceso de tueste.
Pasaremos al punto más famoso de Antigua Guatemala: La Calle Arco, donde se encuentra el Arco de Santa Catalina. Este lugar se ha convertido en el símbolo de Antigua y la imagen central de la mayoría de las postales. En sus orígenes, este arco fue construido por el Convento de Santa Catarina Mártir en 1693. Tiene un secreto que descubrirás en este recorrido de primera. ¡Prepárate para tomar fotos asombrosas!
A dos cuadras del Arco de Santa Catalina comenzaremos a dar los primeros pasos en el Parque Central de Antigua, más conocido por los lugareños como Plaza Central. Este lugar tiene mucha historia a lo largo de sus años de existencia. Este parque se siente como una máquina del tiempo. Aquí estarás rodeado por el primer palacio nacional, la primera Catedral de Guatemala, y en el centro del parque la fuente de la sirena. Déjate encantar por este hermoso lugar.
Es una iglesia católica romana en Antigua Guatemala. La iglesia original fue construida alrededor de 1541 pero sufrió varios terremotos a lo largo de su historia, y el primer edificio de la iglesia fue demolido en 1669. La catedral fue reconstruida y consagrada en 1680. En 1743 la catedral era una de las más grandes de Centroamérica. Sin embargo, el devastador terremoto de Guatemala de 1773 dañó gravemente gran parte del edificio, aunque las dos torres del frente permanecieron prácticamente intactas. Estos han sido objeto de trabajos de restauración y la catedral se ha reconstruido parcialmente.
Luego de conocer toda la historia colonial de Guatemala, regresaremos a la ciudad y te daremos un respiro para que puedas almorzar. Luego recorreremos la ciudad alrededor y visitaremos los puntos más emblemáticos e históricamente relevantes. ¡Prepárate para seguir disfrutando!
Experimentarás la “Avenida de las Américas”, un lugar que tiene diferentes monumentos y plazas dedicadas a diferentes países del continente americano. Los países están representados por diferentes personajes que fueron importantes en su historia y otros monumentos son manifestaciones artísticas. Si eso no es suficiente, podrá apreciar todos los edificios contemporáneos y la zona residencial más cara de la Ciudad de Guatemala.
Al final de la "Avenida de las Américas", se encuentra el Obelisco, que también se conecta con la "Avenida Reforma", que se considera uno de los principales bulevares de la Ciudad de Guatemala. Hoy en día, muchas de las viviendas residenciales han sido reemplazadas por edificios modernos y ahora se considera un distrito comercial y de negocios. A lo largo del siglo XX, se agregaron más esculturas, en honor a personas diversas como Henry Dunant, fundador de la Cruz Roja; Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla y Benito Juárez, líderes mexicanos; José Joaquín Palma y Rafael Álvarez Ovalle, creadores del Himno Nacional de Guatemala; y Miguel Ángel Asturias, premio Nobel de Literatura 1967.
La Iglesia Yurrita, también conocida como Iglesia Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, es una construcción antigua e icónica que se encuentra dentro de la Ciudad de Guatemala. Lo que más destaca de esta obra arquitectónica es su fachada.
Finalmente, llegaremos a la Plaza de la Constitución, que es el centro de la ciudad. Aquí podrá apreciar la fuente ubicada en el centro de la Plaza y alrededor de ella, verá la catedral metropolitana y el palacio nacional. Te encantará la historia detrás de estos hermosos edificios.
Finalmente, te llevaremos al lugar más exclusivo de la ciudad, estamos hablando de Cayalá. Aquí puede comprar, relajarse y disfrutar del tiempo libre.

Picked up by a van & driver, with our tour guide Camilo, for a private tour. Didn't realize the majority of our day would be in the car, largely due to the horrible traffic in Guatemala City. The drive to Antigua was interesting, and our driver made a suggested change in route to provide us with an overview of Antigua before driving down into the town. Upon arrival we enjoyed a walking tour of this picturesque town. However, there were way too many tourists and we didn't feel like we were experiencing the culture. Our guide dropped us off at a Cafe for lunch. The tour said it was to include lunch, but we were left to cover it ourselves. Had we known we were buying our own lunch we would have requested to be taken to a place that offers Guatemalan food. After lunch we headed back to Guatemala City -- no time to wander around the square, shops, etc. Back in G.C. the traffic was again horrendous and getting from "point of interest" to "point of interest" was a slog. Our guide arranged the afternoon so that he could be dropped off at his house before our driver took us back to our hotel. Overall we were pleased that this tour got us an overview of Antigua and Guatemala City. The van and driver were good. The guide was not as full of knowledge nor as enthusiastic about the culture as we had from our other tour with Guat2Do (to Lake Atitlan). But now we've "been there, done that" and won't go back.

The whole experience was amazing, from the time I was picked up at the hotel to the time I got back. Ruben was BEYOND AMAZING!!!! His depth of knowledge was so insightful and I greatly appreciated learning the rich history of Guatemala. From the moment we were picked up Ruben was professional, kind, warm and extremely authentic. Touring the hotspots of Guatemala City was truly stunning as we drove thru the different zones. As we headed to Antigua I was also pleased to learn about the different flora and vegetation native to the area. Ruben was knowledgeable about everything!!!!! Once we arrived to Antigua I knew we were in for a treat because Ruben knew the best places to get souvenirs and take lifetime photos. The memories created on this trip really made my time in Guatemala even more special. I would absolutely use this service again!!!!!!
