What a wonderfully beautiful, pastoral and peaceful end to 3 days in Rome. Marta took us by many Roman antiquities in Rome and along the entracingly lovely Appian Way and explaned their history, ending up at a natural spring still providing water to Romans. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Really cool tour. E-bike was very useful for me. It's not very hilly, but the terrain is so rough, it was actually a little hard to steer and pedal at the same time, so the electric bike kept my forward momentum. Our guide was very knowledgeable, but it got uncomfortable when his rhetoric slid into antisemitic territory. It was also a very long tour. We had several breaks for water, but we didn't have snacks, which I would recommend. Great way to cover a lot of historic ground.
Martin is a very great tour guide. Very knowledgeable in the realm of arts and history. The tour itself is breathtaking. From majestic views of the aqueducts to the Appian ruins along the ancient trail makes the experience immersive. It’s unfortunate that the catacombs were closed that day. But the rest of the experience is really worth it. Definitely will do it again in the future! We started late due to some minor miscommunication, but the operator patiently waited for us.
Mario and Maurizio are amazing and rally kind ! The tour was a great value and we had a really good moment ! We got upgraded to electric bikes and had the chance to choose a typical tour instead of a classic monument tour and it was really worth it ! I recommend theses guys a lot !
The scenery was great and we did enjoy the trip for the most part. We do have issues as to how the trip is described on Viator. The 20 mile distance was not disclosed nor that they were e-bikes and we would be charged an extra 15 for our bikes. And you should disclose that you will riding up rocky hills.
Dear Lynne, we are very sorry that you had not an excellent experience, the Appian Way tour is one of the most common tour for us and for all of the other agencies in Rome, but let me just clarify that the e-bikes are not included in the price of the tour you booked. We proposed to you the e-bike for an additional fee that you accepted, but was not mandatory. I'm sorry there was this misunderstanding... The Appian Way is an ancient road built in the 4th century BC immersed in the Roman countryside; of course is not like to ride in the city center with asphalt, but actually this is the reason why the people love it. Personally I do not consider it a difficult itinerary, also because we do it almost every day with thousands of people including families with children and the feedbacks are always very positive. Your guide has also changed the usual route to avoid some of the busier passages by taking you through the parks and quieter areas of the city. So, I don't know what to tell you, we believe that we did our best and probably you were not self confidence enough, that's why I suggest you, for your next trip to understand better what is in your physical possibilities and maybe read something more about the tour before to book it. Thanks for understanding. Best Regards
Our tour guide was excellent and we were lucky to have a tiny group - just my family and the host. But the bike hire part was disappointing: the bikes were poorly maintained. This is a generous, long tour, so having good bikes matters.
Great way to experience Roman countryside and get away from the hustle of city. Martin was excellent.
Departure at 3 pm from Trastevere and then catapulted into ancient Rome in the company of the extraordinary Francesco "cicero" excellent Ebike tour among the wonders of the Appian Way highly recommended
Mille Grazie!!
Gé-nial Yeah, really. Everything was great... a great guide!!! And it changes everything! It is a real well of knowledge about the city of Rome.. rich in anecdotes and culture. The tour is complete... It lasted about 4-4:30... for about 22-25km of bike. The apical path is rich in emotions. The tour is by mountain bike and we understand why considering the state of the roads... Be careful, I don't see my parents or young children doing this ride... because real ATV. Thanks again to the guide. In very good French, a beautiful discovery.
Thank you! It was such a pleasure and a lovely adventure.
Great Day out and very well looked after. Brilliant way to see the city and environs. Recommend this tour
