1. La presa, también conocida como la ciudad construida sobre árboles: debido a que el suelo de Ámsterdam consiste en una gruesa capa de ciénaga y arcilla, algunos edificios de la ciudad están construidos sobre postes de madera que se fijan en una capa de arena de aproximadamente 11 metros de profundidad. Desde la antigüedad, se sabe que las casas de Ámsterdam se construyeron sobre pilotes de cimientos de madera que se hunden profundamente en la arcilla, la turba y el agua hasta que alcanzan la primera capa de arena sólida.
El área es parte del Barrio Rojo, para ser más específicos, parte del área de la Ciudad Vieja. Así que esta es la parte más antigua de la ciudad, por eso también hay mucha historia.
Pub The Ape, también conocido como Int Aepjen en holandés. Construido alrededor de 1540 y uno de los dos edificios de madera que quedan en Ámsterdam. Lo cual es muy especial ya que hubo un gran incendio en 1452 y después de ese momento el gobierno decidió que los edificios deberían tener fachadas de ladrillo.
El Waag solía ser una de las puertas de la ciudad de Ámsterdam, una parte de la muralla defensiva. Fue construido alrededor del siglo XV y es el segundo edificio más antiguo de Ámsterdam. Más tarde se utilizó como gremio, organizaciones de artesanos, situadas dentro del Waag y alrededor de la plaza.
La casa más pequeña de Ámsterdam se construyó alrededor de 1700 y se utilizó por primera vez como lugar de almacenamiento para la empresa comercial VOC. Más tarde, la gente empezó a vivir en la casa durante mucho tiempo.

We had a wonderful time. Katie our guide was very informative. We booked a small group tour which made it very intimate.
An excellent tour which explains a lot of history surrounding the origins of the ‘Red Light’ area. It also helps you understand other key things about Amsterdam. It was highly informative and also entertaining. Sophie, our guide was excellent.

It was a crazy day to do the tour as it was King’s Day. Guide was knowledgeable but unfortunately werenot able to see all the sites

Highly recommend this tour. This is a big part of Amsterdam history. We did the 1800 tour that is more family friendly and was ideal for my 17 year old, the later tour I would keep for adults only. Our tour guide was amazing and we learnt a lot

VERy BAD Experience. If you are in Amsterdam the pst 3-4 days, you know the weather is not good. It is very difficult to walk on an icy street. We arrived at the meeting place at 6:02. We suppose to meet at 6:00. I messaged the operator. I called. Meanwhile, i did not receive any updates or message from the operator. When we arrived the (small group) left. No one was there. We waited until 6:15. We were so disappointed. Bad Tour operator for not giving us a chance even for 2 mins. My other tours in Tripadvisor and Get your-guide give at least 5 mins allowance to wait…they call the clients… I am not doing anymore any Viator tour. What a shame!
The guide waited with the group until 18:10. In the mean time we tried calling you and texting but no response. We have processed a full refund for your booking. It's very unfortunate you left us such a review when we tried everything to resolve it with you.
