Alquiler de scooters en Lombok

This is more a review on all scooter rental in Lombok. Rule 1 - dont rent a scooter you are not staring at….. you may think there are rental companies in Lombok, but they arent - they are simply web sites or little huts with kids offering rental. There is no such thing as a scooter rental place with a lot full of well maintained scooters to choose from. What happens is they take your booking and then go out to thier friends and anyone who personally who wants to rent their scooter and try to get you something “similar” to what you want. You have no idea how well maintained it is, will it break down, is it legal etc…. Unless you are there, staring at it and testing it. I rented a bike and when it arrived it had no indicators, no rear view mirrors, no headlight and was literally falling apart. If the scooter breaks down - the person who rented it to you has no obligation to fix it. -after all, they dont own it. They will simply call the owner and maybe……..maybe……..it will get fixed but it will frustrate you endlessly. Another trick is they will rent you a scooter that is really good, and then a day or two later will call you and say they have to change the scooter because the one you have needs an oil change or some other BS excuse. Do not let them do this ! Also remember, you are totally responsible - so if you have a scooter that has no indicators or they arent working and you get run up behind as youre stopped to turn, then it is entirely your fault, and if you end up hurt………….. So please dont rent anything you arent looking directly at, and check and test everything on it before you take it, and tell them you are renting this scooter and you will not change it during the rental. And of course, always wear a helmet - you may think it looks cool but your one stray dog or chicken (and they are all over the roads here) from spending the rest of your life in a wheelchair
