Outstanding experience and one of the highlights of our time in Salvador. Wilson, our guide, was excellent—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate, bringing real depth to everything we saw. The driver was also fantastic—smooth, professional, and made the whole day feel seamless. The visit and lunch with the local family were a standout: incredibly warm, authentic, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend if you want something meaningful and well-executed.
Best guide I’ve ever had. So knowledgeable and interesting. A 10/10 authentic Salvador experience. I would strongly recommend it
João Luis did a great tour with us! He has extensive experience and shared a lot of information about culture and history with us. Besides that he has a very friendly manner with the Soteropolitan (the people of Salvador)! We felt very safe and well accompanied on tour co John! We recommend 100% to make this tour here 😊
Wilson was the best tour guide we could have ever asked for. Incredibly resourceful and informative, the tour covered the history of Brazil and Salvador with nuance and skill. All the stops we made were amazing, and Wilson even made some changes during the tour to make it more tailored to our interests and needs. Best tour guide we had in our journey across Brazil!
André was an outstanding tour guide! His English was a huge plus and made everything seamless. He fully immersed my family in the local culture while showing us the key sights of Salvador da Bahia. His high energy, passion, and deep knowledge really stood out, and he answered every question we had with enthusiasm. We had such an amazing time that we will definitely be booking with Andrew again next year to tour the countryside. Anyone planning a trip to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, cannot go wrong booking André.
Our tour guide Fernando was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, personable and we definitely enjoyed the food spots we went to.
Vagner, who was my guide on this tour, has very profound knowledge of Afro-Brazilian history and can give people with little idea about the candomblé a good insight into the not so simple world of gods and goddesses. he also knows very well the anthropological research work that has already been done in this field. his remarks definitely make you want to penetrate deeper into this mystical world.
A Soulful Journey Through Salvador’s Afro-Brazilian Heart If you’re seeking a tour that goes far beyond sightseeing and dives deep into the soul of Salvador, the Afro Brazilian Roots City Tour with Monia is an absolute must. From start to finish, our day was a masterclass in history, resilience, and cultural pride. Monia, a native Bahian and deeply knowledgeable guide, brought every moment to life with her insider perspective on Afro-Brazilian traditions. Her storytelling was rich, layered, and full of reverence for the people and practices that have shaped Salvador’s identity. One of the most moving stops was our visit to a Candomblé Terreiro, where we learned about the sacred roots of the religion and its powerful connection to Africa. It wasn’t just a building—it was a living vessel of spirit. Each corner held intention: altars blooming with offerings, sacred objects humming with axé, and the palpable presence of the orixás. Monia helped us understand the resistance and spiritual strength it took to preserve these traditions through centuries of persecution. It was humbling and beautiful. We also explored the vibrant San Joaquim market, a sensory feast of colors, flavors, and local life. And the perfect finale? Lunch at Gamboa Favela, where we were treated with good food and a stunning view of the bay. This tour isn’t just informative—it’s transformative. It’s a celebration of Afro-Brazilian heritage, and Monia is the heart of it all. Request her by name. You won’t be disappointed.
A must do experience when in Salvador. My tour guide was phenomenal. Unfortunately, I can’t recall her name at the moment. She was energetic and informative. She helped explain Salvador’s history, customs and culture.
The tour was phenomenal! We were given such a deep, thoughtful insider's guide to Afro-Brazilian arts and culture. The tour guide, Vagner, knew about everything from street art, the best local cuisines and hidden gems to every aspect of Bahian religions, culture and intellectual thought. Truly extraordinary!
