Great safari in northern Tanzania

Before our trip, we compared various safari providers for a long time and ultimately chose this one. The decisive factors were mainly the route through the three most famous national parks – Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area – as well as the slightly lower price compared to other providers. Our guide was super friendly and made a great effort to show us as many animals as possible and to enable great close-up shots. He always respected the animals and drove responsibly. We felt very comfortable with him. Our group was simply fantastic as well. We had great travel companions with whom we got along well from the very beginning. This made the safari an even more beautiful experience. We chose the camping option. Anyone who does not book lodges should know that the facilities at the public campsites are very basic. In some cases, there are no power outlets and no light, for example at the campsite in the Serengeti. Unfortunately, the washrooms were also quite dirty in some cases. One should definitely bring their own toilet paper, soap, and other hygiene products, as there was none of that at some campsites. A tent, a foam mattress, and sleeping bags were provided. Our cook was also very nice and made the best of the simple conditions. The food was generally okay, but often the same or very similar. Since lunch was prepared in the morning, it was usually cold by lunchtime. Here too, one has to make a few compromises. Anyone who wants a bit more comfort and values more amenities should consider investing a little more money and booking a lodge. After the long days in the jeep, this can be a pleasant alternative. An important note: At the campsite near the Ngorongoro Crater, it was freezing cold at night. Depending on the time of year, one should definitely bring warm clothing; otherwise, the night can quickly become very uncomfortable. We particularly enjoyed the Serengeti. There, we were able to observe an incredible number of animals up close, often even in large groups. However, especially at the entrance of the park, it can get quite crowded. We experienced that a leopard was surrounded by about 20 jeeps at one point – we did not find that particularly pleasant. In the following days, we were mostly out with only a few other vehicles, which made the wildlife observations significantly more enjoyable. We were on the road for a total of 5 days. In hindsight, we would say that a 3- or 4-day tour can also be completely sufficient. One should also keep in mind that both the drive from Arusha to the national parks and the distances between the parks can take several hours – travel times of up to four hours are not uncommon. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend the tour. One should just be aware that camping in Tanzania is rather simple and adventurous, and one has to make some compromises in certain areas. Those who want a bit more comfort should book a lodge. The impressive wildlife observations, the beautiful landscape, and the many special moments definitely make up for the limitations.

The trip of a lifetime.

I just returned from a week-long safari organized by Adeline, whose communication, clarity of information, and execution of the trip according to the budget were clear and straightforward. It was in a campsite. The equipment was provided; the 20 cm mattress scared me at first, but I had no back pain (Adeline had mentioned this to me). I was able to visit Tarangire, Serengeti, Manyara, Mto Wa Mbu, and Ngorongoro safely with Godson, a guide with hawk-like eyes, who knows the fauna and flora perfectly and is always attentive. Elias, the cook, fed me like never before, morning, noon, and night, where I even had to ask him to reduce the portions a bit :-). It was a beautiful trip because in the campsite, what a pleasure to wake up to a magnificent landscape and to go to bed in it as well. And even better to hear the cry of hyenas less than 20 meters from the tent. All animals, even the smallest ones like the chameleon, appeared before my eyes, one surprise after another, as Godson said nothing in order to preserve it. The director even inquired upon our arrival to see if everything was going well. An agency that I recommend 100% for its seriousness and the quality of its services.

Beautiful experiance

We booked a 5 day safari to visit Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorogoro. We loved every moment of the safari. The camping was well arranged. Salim cooked great food for us everyday and Bacari is a super friendly and experianced guide and driver. He managed to get us into a deeper part of the Serengeti despite the roads conditions being challenging due to the rain. And he spotted animals while driving and got us into the right sports to take pictures and enjoy the animals. We were lucky with Bacari his experiance in finding animals and lucky with nature actually showing it self. We saw so many animals leading to more highlights then we can say. Leopard, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and many many more.

Unforgettable trip with Bakari from Avocet that exceeded all of our expectations

This was truly an unforgettable trip and exceeded all of our expectations. From start to finish, everything was very well organized. Communication with Hadija at Avocet was smooth, responsive, and genuinely pleasant throughout the entire planning process. She was flexible, patient, and helped us find the right balance between wildlife focus and budget. Our driver and guide, Bakiri, was outstanding. He managed to locate every animal on our list, and not just sightings from a distance, but real, exciting moments in action. At the same time, he was incredibly patient, kind, and engaging with our two boys. He is the perfect guide for families, but also for more demanding travelers who want to maximize their wildlife experience. Tarangire and Ngorongoro were both wonderful in their own ways elephants among baobabs, the dramatic crater landscapes. However, nothing could have prepared us for the wonders of the Serengeti during migration season. Seeing the vast herds in Ndutu, with predators nearby and newborn calves on the plains, was simply breathtaking. It is something we will never forget. Accommodation-wise, the experience was quite well aligned to our expectations. The Seronera campsite was very basic, but it added to the sense of adventure, especially for the kids, who loved camping in the heart of the Serengeti. In contrast, the Ndutu mobile camp felt like true “glamping”, far more comfortable and well-appointed than we expected, with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Overall, this safari delivered everything we had dreamed of and more. We would not hesitate to recommend Avocet Tanzania Safaris to anyone looking for a well-organized, wildlife-focused, and truly memorable experience.

An unforgettable safari with Serengeti Big Cats and our guide Albert

We came back with lots of memories in mind and completely happy with this safari. Thanks to a faultless organization but especially our guide Albert. As soon as we arrived at the airport, he greeted us with a big smile and managed to put us immediately at ease. In addition to his human qualities, the fact that he knows parks and wildlife very well allowed us to see the big five, hunts and all in a superb atmosphere. Laughter was on board the whole trip! He knew the parks so well and could see the animals from so far away (we sometimes needed binoculars!) that we ended up thinking that these parks were his gardens and that he must have swallowed a pair of binoculars when he was little;) Thank you again Albert for making this trip unforgettable.

Great tour with very experienced guide!

I’ve just come back from the 5 day safari and I had the best time! Obviously most safari company’s follow similar routes and camp at the same campsites but what really made my experience special was our guide Mike. He was so warm and friendly and a very very experienced guide. He had incredible knowledge of all the parks and animals. He worked really hard to make sure we had clear close up views of all the animals and let is spend as long as we liked with each animal. His driving was very impressive especially through muddy wet roads. The car and camping equipment were all good quality. There was plenty of very tasty food with Tanzania and western options at each meal thanks to our chef Kevin. It was also really nice to have hot lunches most days. I would highly recommend Avocet!

An amazing trip with lifetime memories

A group of us, three families, were going to safari in Tanzania and Zanjibar. Our trip was 5 days of safari and two days in all inclusive resort in zanzibar. Our "custom package" included everything (transportation, guide, food, hotels, and whatever else it may be). We had customized every aspect of our trip. Going from the US, we didn't know where to start. I sent emails to a few, about 10, highly rated companies on Tripadvisor and other websites. Only three companies responded. I sent follow up emails as I had more questions. Only Hadija at Avocet came back with desirable and detailed answers. I went back and forth multiple times to iron out minute details on hotels, type of safari jeeps, camps class and location, food inclusion and choices, guide info, and routes to name a few. Hadija always responded with promptly with detailed explanation. I really admired timely communication and descriptive communication. Part of our deal, we were allocated three safari jeeps for three families. Our three drivers/guides, Michael, Waldon, and Ibrahim Bakari, were simply amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. They were quite friendly and conversational. None of them smoked which was an added benefit. All three families felt quite comfortable and at ease with our guides. We waited till last day of our trip to tip them. We were so happy, we tipped twice the recommended amount. We did have a hiccup with Avocet. One of our flights were canceled due to airline change of schedule and "no refund" was given. Avocet wanted to charge us for the new flights. After back and forth, they agree to "cover" cost of new flights. Overall it was an amazing trip. We were apprehensive before going to Tanzania. But, Hadija's hand holding made our journey very comfortable and easy. We would definitely utilize Avocet if we go back to Tanzania.

Better than we imagined!

We are three friends and spent five days with Bakary, our guide, and Kevin, the cook, in three national parks in Tanzania. It was an important budget, but we really were not disappointed. We honestly could not have dreamed better. Bakary was very friendly, funny and attentive, and he made sure that all our wishes came true. Even if camping in a tent wasn’t always as comfortable as we would have liked, we really had a dream by going to Serengeti and observing the animals so closely. We have memories for life. We highly recommend!

Mike's the best!

Mike was an amazing guide, with a 6th sense for finding animals! We had a blast and saw pretty much every animal you could imagine, thanks to Mike's excellent driving. Food portions were a bit smaller than I would've liked and was the only negative I could think of for the trip. The food was amazing though, shoutout to the chef.Remember to bring a headlamp and a pillow if you want some extra comfort in the tents. Amazing wildlife experience!
